As long as they don't dwell on the Doctor's Sex or change the Doctor's personality in a major way (While they are all different they do share some underlying qualities). No low cut tops or short skirts as generally the Doctor wasn't flamboyant in that manner.

I am hoping the Christmas episode addresses the reason behind the change. If they were smart they should have just cast her as his daughter and have the actualy Doctor step back for a bit and gather his thoughts.
