I dont care personally as long as the writing is good HOWEVER I think this will jump the shark and could kill the show. Ratings are already down so they're hoping this stunt will shoot some life back into the franchise. Feedback is largely negitive so for the departing males viewership you will have to replace them with new female viewers for this to work. That seems like a gamble.
Its a double problem though because while the audience is 50% female already most came on board for the Tennent/Smith eras for their heartthrob appeal...which unless theyre bicurious this will not appeal to them and outside of the innitial gimmick pop this could seriously fall flat.
This also brings up a lot of lore questions. In 13 regenerations he just now turns into a woman? Why has this never happend prior? Is it just a low percent chance? It seems a little illogical. Is River bi? Seems like as his wife I hope he mentioned that this could happen...
tl;dr I have little intrest in this. It's a PR stunt but could still be compelling if done right but it puts the show in real hot water and they need to be careful. 13th could be the last for sometime.
