To this day they continue to act as if nothing bad happened even though they've paid over $93 million in restitution to victims at last count.

The fact that something as unconscionable as that can happen and the punishment is a couple of years of postseason bans and a few scholarships lost is unreal. What would have to happen at a football powerhouse for them to have to shut down the program?
Get tattoos in exchange for autographs.

No seriously; remember when like 5 players did that at Ohio State and you had people screaming for the SMU "Death Penalty"? They wanted the Buckeyes burned at the stake to "send a message". Coach Tressel had to resign (to which he sat in the replay booth upstairs for the Colts for a couple of seasons before returning home to YSU to become the college president), a whole string of vacated wins, and Terelle Pryor had to slide to the NFL sooner than he should have 'lest his stock drop into the toilet. That was a "lack of institutional control", but a grown man playing grabass with kids for a couple decades has people scratching their heads and playing with kid gloves on the matter.

And to top it off, a couple of years later, Manziel was down in Texas blatantly doing exactly what the Ohio State players were "caught" doing, and suddenly it became an issue of "Well, why shouldn't players be able to reap benefits from their fame and/or get paid?"
