They spent a ton of money on Season 1 under the assumption networks and companies would line right up for the company and it didn't happen. Touring was also meant to be a big plan to generate funds but they only held a few shows at most. El Rey was only meant to be a temporary home till they found a better network but good money in the TV wrestling market has dried up a lot.
They should get a Season 4 but then they'd be right back with the same uncertain future for Season 5.

I don't think that the future is as uncertain as it is being reported. They are being dumb about announcing the seasons and scheduling, but I think the money is there and the interest will only be going up at the beginning of the 4th season, after a whole cycle of advertising because the 3rd season will probably head to Netflix...
