SmackDown was crushed by the season seven premiere of American Horror Story, which averaged 3.933 million viewers and a 2.02 rating in the 18-49 demo.
A first-time ever number one contender's main event between Shinsuke Nakamura and Randy Orton headlined SmackDown this week. The show was also up five percent in the year-over-year ratings as the September 6th, 2016 episode did 2.455 million viewers.

Smackdown has a big chance next week at topping RAW due to the start of Monday Night Football and Smackdown having a loaded show.

As Florida prepares for Hurricane Irma, WWE has announced the postponement of four previously scheduled NXT house shows.
The shows that were set to take place in Daytona Beach on Friday night and Crystal River on Saturday have been postponed, along with events that were planned for Lakeland on September 14th and Dade City on the 15th. The Dade City show has been rescheduled to October 5th, with WWE noting that tickets that have already been purchased will be honored on that date.
WWE has yet to indicate whether the next set of NXT television tapings, which are supposed to take place at Full Sail University next Wednesday, will go on as scheduled.

WWE is recognizing Asuka's reign at 523 days - from April 1st, 2016 when she won the title at "Takeover: Dallas" by defeating Bayley to tonight's episode when she was forced to relinquish.
The storyline is that she is forfeiting the title to pursue new challenges in WWE.
During tonight's segment with Asuka and NXT General Manager William Regal, it was noted that Regal has started negotiations with RAW General Manager Kurt Angle and SmackDown General Manager Daniel Bryan for The Empress of Tomorrow's call-up to the main roster.
