For the sake of ease on my iPod, the only time I label a song with its album is if I have the full album. Otherwise I group the other songs into an "album" called 'Singles'.

So if I only have one album by a band, their folder on my iPod will consist of that album's folder and then the singles folder will have everything else by them (I move the songs out later if they are part of another album I end up collecting the full version of).
