the problem is, even major news is being posted in here. The fact that it is stickied, makes it seem like it's the right place to post stuff too.

The first sentence of your post is exactly my point though. It used to be I could read about new gaming news that I wanted to read about by reading through threads rather than jumbles of posts. I pretty much never had to go to IGN thanks to the VG forums, but that is no longer the case.
