Rights for a live action Pokemon film is rumored to have been sold in a recent secret auction with Legendary studios as the winning bid.

Quote:
The rights to a live-action Pokémon film are the focus of a Hollywood bidding war, according to unnamed sources who spoke with The Hollywood Reporter.

According to the report, The Pokémon Company has been looking for someone to make a big-budget Hollywood production out of their humble game series. Sony Pictures, Warner Bros. Pictures, and Legendary Pictures are reportedly all interested in the rights, but Legendary, the same studio behind The Dark Knight and Jurassic World, has allegedly pulled ahead in the bidding process.

Theater chain AMC recently dropped a proposed idea to allow texting during films at some of their locations after receiving the huge negative backlash for the idea.

On paper, the idea was to get more young people to watch films at their theaters and would have been willing to drop their no phones/texting ban as a concession. Majority of people ended up hating the idea since it would lead to the possible of more interruptions during films.
