THQ's upcoming shooter Homefront will have an Online Pass but THQ will let rental and used buyers to level up in multiplayer up to Level 5 as a cap.
No time limit will be done either but in order to unlock stuff passed Level 5 (out of 75), the pass needs to be bought.
One rumor to why THQ decided to change its stance on its Online Pass might be related to the awful sales of its games in 2010 and needed to do something different with the pass, especially with new titles that are not established series.
In comparison, all of EA's pass-enabled games give just a few days for free before locking out all of the multiplayer modes unless the pass is bought.
