I think it can only be a good sign that Reeves came back should creative freedom be the actual reason.

I seem to remember Warner being aggressively hands on with the production of bvs and suicide squad, as well justice league.

That works for Marvel since they have a well thought out and plotted game plan well before they start production on their films.

However, it doesn't work when you're going it on the fly or after test screenings, or during the middle of filming. Hopefully the move to bring Reeves in is a sign that they'll step back and allow the director to execute his vision, for better or for worse.
