If that was the case, the booking and handling of Jinder would have been way better than its now. Right now it still only comes off as him getting these pushes because of India and not because WWE sees him as a legit big star.

Supposedly Jinder's WWE reign was such a bust that WWE changed how they report drawing revenues from their markets in order to hide it.
