Capcom recently gave an official statement regarding Buttgate for the game.

For a month now, fans have been speculating in regards to why Capcom would remove R. Mika's Critical Art butt slap animation from Street Fighter V, after already debuting footage for it.

Now, by way of UOL Jogos, we know Capcom's side. Evidently producer Yoshinori Ono noted that they didn't make the change due to "external influences" or pressure. Instead, it was an internal decision because they wanted "the biggest possible number of people to play," and that they don't want something in the game that would be "uncomfortable."
