At least in Nikki's case, she also had the benefit of being a Divas champion for a long time. Same happened for AJ Lee and other women champions who had long reigns due to how WWE used to book the division.

Unlike AJ Lee, Bellas also had Total Divas which gave a big boost to their merch sales.

Bayley at one actually managed to topple the Bellas as #1 merch seller for the WWE but only for a brief time due having around 2-3 pieces of merch against the Bellas 80+ pieces.
