According to the Observer, main reason this event got back on schedule was due to MSG not being willing at all to "take the bullet" for the WWE in regards to Sinclair's lawsuit threat.

MSG caved first and got a deal done where Sinclair & ROH dropped their legal threats and in return got their date back for the ROH-NJPW MSG event. WWE pretty much had no say in the matter.
