During the time of that streak though, surely you agree that just booking him strongly would have still allowed him to be massively over.

Like... If he lost early on via some bullshit DQ or something but was still booked as a practically unbeatable badass motherfucker, the crowd would have still been going insane when he was the man to face Hogan. If he had struggled to beat guys like Jerry Flynn, lost clean to another top face and then lost to a cocky, cheating heel via their finisher after a distraction, probably not.

It's not "She lost the streak, she's fucked." It's "She is being treated as just as beatable as everyone else."
