According to the Observer, WWE rumored to have given the Rey Mysterio treatment to Daniel Bryan's contract in the sense it can't end unless the WWE grants his release. Likely would have to threaten a lawsuit like Rey did multiple times in order to get released now.
He has 2 years left but is taking a big paycut as a result and has to make up all lost time if he ever returns as an active wrestler. WWE's way of making sure Bryan can't be of any use to any other wrestling company any time soon.
