iD Software rumored to have "indefinitely postpone" development on Doom 4 due to negative reception and lack of sales in regard to Rage which also was using a newer engine from the studio.

Rumors had stated the studio was current reorganizing and reworking their development of Doom 4 to remove or change aspects of the game which could have been shared from Rage and possible changes to the engine to fix issues people had with Rage (at least on the PC).

According to the studio itself, no games have been postponed or were required to have changes made while any news concerning Doom 4 is only speculation.

Quote:
Pete Hines, responding to our request for comment this morning, says no game in development has been postponed.

"We don't comment on unannounced games and DOOM 4 hasn't been announced (though I appreciate that id has previously referenced DOOM 4)," Hines said. "Games are done when they are done and no title under development at id has been postponed – indefinitely or otherwise."
id Software parent company and publisher, Zenimax and Bethesda, were also rumored to have demanded some changes to be made to Doom 4 to prevent any chance of the same negative reception or issues occurring again after Rage had some post launch issues.

Quote:
The apparent source says that Zenimax and Bethesda made the decision based on the "the issues and reviews" surrounding RAGE's launch, which in their eyes has demonstrated "a serious lack of confidence in the project management at id".

Quick News Round-Up:
1) EA announces the Mass Effect 3 demo will be bundled in every new copy of Battlefield 3 but there are some catches to the deal once the demo actually arrives by January 2012. While the single player demo is avaliable in every copy, multiplayer demo/beta copies will only be playable to those who have Origin accounts or activate them before the start of the multiplayer beta.

2) Blizzard reveals Diablo III will be free to all World of Warcraft subscribers as long as their current subscription has been over 12 months. The offer only is avaliable to annual subscribers and has to be over a year in length and not just in total months since the purchase of WoW to be eligable for the offer.

3) The upcoming SSX game now has an official release date of Feburary 14, 2012 for the US/Canada region while it wasn't confirmed if the European release date will be the same or different based on the press release sent by EA. The game itself is a reboot or revamp of the SSX series and intialy was meant to be more grittier until backlash forced EA to rework the game to also include classic SSX gameplay.
