After losing 3 of 4 to the Nats, the Mets are finally done. I knew they realistically had too many teams to jump over for the 2nd Wild Card anyway, but that they were only 5.5 out midway through last week just shows that you really don't have to be super good to stay in the race with 2 Wild Cards.
The Mets are 69-65 this season against every team not named the Washington Nationals.
When you add the Nats games in the Mets drop all the way to 72-78. Seriously ridiculous how much they've owned them. If they could have figured out a way to play even halfway decently against the Nationals, they'd be right in the Wild Card hunt right now.
