According to the Wall Street Journal, Nintendo is ramping up production of the Switch from its original 8 million target to now around 16 million consoles for the year starting next month.

Also revealed they didn't want another Wii U situation from occurring in regards to over-production which was why their early sales expectations were on the low end.

According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, as of April 1, Nintendo will be doubling its efforts to produce Nintendo Switch systems. Initially they were planning on producing eight million, but now that number is allegedly closer to 16 million. They already confirmed that they wanted to play it safe after the Wii U debacle to ensure that they didn't have warehouses full of these things, but now they can take the gloves off.
