Little to none considering the risks outweighed the benefits by a lot. They were lucky a lose-lose situation didn't happen where sponsors just bailed or became furious at being played by the WWE. Same for risking their tv contract talks by having FOX and others start to reconsider wanting to do business with the company.

If anything, Vince/WWE was probably banking on the backlash having no teeth or sponsors/media not caring because of wrestling's low image in the main stream. Would have opened the door for bringing Hogan and others with questionable reputations back into the company's graces.
