Sources with knowledge of the situation noted to us that this was a recent violation. WWE has at times gotten positive test results and waited months at times to announce and suspend the particulars. Sometimes it has to do with investigating and allowing the talent the chance to explain their actions. Sometimes it has to do with certain timing issues. It is not against company policy, and has been done regularly when key talent violates the policy, to tie up storylines before announcing and starting suspensions.
Current speculation is Reigns failed the test somewhere between last Tuesday and last Sunday with the WWE only making a decision on what to do prior to the MitB ppv itself. Also only made the decision to actually suspended him until yesterday.

For the rest of the year, the schedule lists SummerSlam on 8/21 at the Barclays Center; a Smackdown exclusive Network special called Backlash on 9/11 from Richmond, VA which will not air on any regular PPV carriers ... What gives credence to this list is WWE just took out a trademark for Clash of the Champions, the 9/11 date being network exclusive means they couldn’t lock in the date due to timing with U.S. providers because of the late change (PPV providers want all materials to them at least 90 days before the show); plus the dates and sites for 8/21, 9/25, 10/30, 11/20 and 12/18 are all accurate.

It also appears that Quinn Ojinnaka aka Moose, 32, will be also finishing up this summer. We have heard from multiple sources that Moose has relayed he is finishing up with the company at the end of August. Moose, who was backstage at WWE NXT Takeover, is believed to be on the WWE radar.

Punk is slated to fight Mickey Gall in his debut.

Helwani wrote the fight is, "Far from a done deal but that's the direction as of this AM. "
Think the original plan was for him to debut by UFC 200 but several injuries and unexpected delays kept pushing the debut back.

Dave Meltzer is concerned over WWE’s lack of actual drawing power according to the end of his Money in the Bank review. He’s worried that due to WWE’s aggressive need to pull off a large surplus of stars off of the NXT roster to make space for the Raw and Smackdown draft that most of the talent transitioned off NXT “Just aren’t ready for real programming yet”

The two biggest examples of this come in the form of Apollo Crews due to his lack of gimmick and Baron Corbin whom Dave has referred to as “Painfully Medicore” with the only thing going for him is “He’s really tall which is what Vince appreciates in a wrestler chosen to succeed by him”

Another star Dave appears to be the most worried about is Seth Rollins and WWE’s inability to seem to wanna make him a top babyface. This doesn’t appear to be an issue with Roman Reigns anymore as its starting to become more and more apparent that Vince only cares about Roman as his top draw regardless of what the crowd identify him as. He could be a top heel and Vince will push him like a babyface like he would The Rock during The Rock/Austin build to Mania 17

Minor topics also include how stars like Dolph Ziggler work too fast in front of more non-experienced rookies making the matches seem either formulaic or just downright bad.
