You talking about the story mode? If so, you might be overthinking it.

For the mandatory objective, just climb to the top and wait for someone else to climb the other side. Punch them until dazed, then hit triangle/Y for the OMG Moment - you don't even need a finisher stored - then grab the briefcase, et voilą!
