As you may recall, women were not allowed to participate in WWE’s Greatest Royal Rumble event earlier this year in Saudi Arabia. Sources tell us the company might make up for the controversial decision, however, as the idea of an all women’s show taking place in late September or October is seriously being kicked around by higher-ups.

It’s unclear if the event would additionally feature some of the women on the NXT roster, outside talent or former stars … because the show hasn’t been set in stone just yet.

WWE Network News, who has broken similar stories in the past, first reported the news. While episodes of World Championship Wrestling have already been uploaded to the WWE Network, nothing has been uploaded before November 1985.

Viewers were in for a shock on July 14, 1984 when their usual World Championship Wrestling action was completely overhauled. Instead of Gordon Solie and wrestling stars from Georgia Championship Wrestling, Vince McMahon and the superstars of the World Wrestling Federation filled the hour time slot instead. While the Georgia show usually featured hot in-ring action and interviews, McMahon used the Saturday time slot mainly as a recap show that only featured the occasional in studio squash match.

Declining ratings due to viewership outrage over the drastic overhaul eventually led McMahon to sell the time slot to Jim Crockett Promotions, who took over in March 1985.

NJPW noted that Takahashi was able to travel back to Japan today, where he will proceed with treatment. He had been hospitalized in San Francisco after Saturday's match against Dragon Lee at the Cow Palace.

Takahashi injured his neck towards the end of the match when a Phoenix Plex spot went wrong and he landed on his head/neck as he was given the move. The match continued for a couple of minutes after that, ending when Takahashi hit the Time Bomb to retain the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship.

NJPW has yet to officially confirm Takahashi's exact injury, but Dave Meltzer reported that the original belief was that Takahashi suffered a broken neck. NJPW wrote on Monday morning that Takahashi was undergoing a thorough evaluation but was conscious and able to sit and talk.

Earlier today, WWE issued an announcement to fans in the Detroit area about the Tuesday 9/4 Smackdown Live taping at the Little Caesars Arena with Bryan announced for the taping, including a dark match main event teaming with AJ Styles and Jeff Hardy against Samoa Joe, The Miz and Shinsuke Nakamura.

Over the weekend, WWE also announced that Bryan would make his first appearance in Madison Square Garden in three years at the 12/26 return to the legendary venue in NYC.

So, while card is subject to change, these are the first potential indications that Bryan has signed (or is expected by WWE to sign) a new deal. Stay tuned.

The first G1 Climax featured the three booked prominently, including Hashimoto scoring victories over Riki Choshu and Bam Bam Bigelow in the round robin portion and Chono winning his first of five G1s. He won it twice more in his career, including a 489-day title reign from April 1996 until dropping it to Kensuke Sasaki in August 1997. Hashimoto’s record length as champion stood until Kazuchika Okada surpassed the mark with his most recent title reign.
