Outside this guy's clear disdain for Patriots fans (he also clearly isn't a big Goodell fan either), this sums up my thoughts pretty well. Pretty sure the hatred of Goodell has lead people to not think of this whole thing logically.

Had he gone too harsh, which he evidently did according to some, he’s suspending Brady for his lies or the cover-up or his lack of participation in the investigation, not because he cheated. Nonsense. Brady didn’t fully participate in the investigation because he’s almost certainly guilty. And he lied because, well, that’s what people do when they get caught doing something they shouldn’t. How anyone can have sympathy for Brady when he knowingly tampered with the integrity of one of the three biggest football games of the years shows how toxic Goodell has become. To many, he’s not even allowed to punish the cheaters properly."
