What is the first game you beat without cheats?
Honestly can't remember, used Game Genie a lot, hopefully your answers remind me.

Mario

I don't remember for sure, but there is a high probability of it being a Mario game. Possibly Mario 3.
Might have been Mario 3 for me, I remember beating it one time but I probably used Game Genie. Probably used Game Genie for the MegaMan games too. I was good at Kirby adventure but wasn't fast enough to be the star orb.
I beat Kirbys DreamLand (GB) which was quite easy. It was probably Hocus Pocus (episode 1) for the PC honestly. |
Oh I do remember beating Doom on easy mode possibly before that.
Yeah, Doom I think. But shit, I even remember the cheat codes for that to this day so quite possible I only beat it with cheats.
Duke Nukem 3D is the first one I totally remember beating clean. |
Either Turok or Star Fox 64.
Beat Legend of Zelda a lot earlier but that game didn't have any cheats. |
Sonic the Hedgehog I guess.
I dunno. I wasn't a punk who used a game genie. Probably a Mario or Mega man game.
Donkey Kong
Hm, damn, think I'm forgetting Commodore 64 games, but I really don't remember a single one.
The first one I remember was the SNES Mario. I know I beat some NES games too though.
Honestly, no idea, and it'd be fruitless of me to even try to remember. Maybe Grand Theft Auto III, but that's a friggin' shot in the dark.
I do remember waking my parents up at 7 am on the weekend to inform them I had just beaten Flash Man.
They weren't impressed. |

Definitely Super Mario Bros. The day after beating it my dad bought us SMB3. Good guy dad.
Looking back on it now, SMB3 was released like three years after SMB1. Took me 3 damn years to beat a game I can beat in under 10 minutes now. I was a terrible gamer as a child. (joking of course, I was born in '85 so lol)
don't feel bad, I still haven't beaten SMB1
It's pretty easy now if you use the warp pipes. Playing through each level is actually somewhat of a challenge still.
Think the farthest I ever got in SMB 1 was 8-2 because I could never time a certain jump correctly or kept running out of time.
I could never beat MegaMan 6 with or without cheat because of a very difficult jump on PlantMans stage.
Streets of Rage
Never really used cheats at all, i like to play video games as they are intended to be played.

First console was an N64...perhaps it was something on that, but as I stated before, I honestly haven't a clue. |

Graphics aren't my worry, if the game has a good story and is fun to play, that's all that matters to me. |

Raiders of the Lost Ark (2600). I was 3 or 4; it was a big deal to me, especially since it wasn't a "progress forever until it gets prohibitively fast" games that most were back then: it actually ended.

Man, Revenge was awesome. I used to go that store with my buddy and play it all day long.
Then I got my own N64 along with Revenge and WM 2k, sadly No Mercy was never released in Europe, so I only played it using an emulator and it just wasn't the same. |

mario 3... or super mario world.... i can't remember.
does using the whistles count as cheating in mario 3? or just finding out you can slide behind the white walls |
I believe it was Quake 2 singleplayer.

this dick
Donkey kong
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
To this day this game brings back good memories. #Classic |
Mega Man 3. Still have chills when you had to face Final bosses from Mega Man 2 in that game
Resident Evil on the psx
Metroid 2: Return of Samus
Remains the only game I've ever had to buy twice; some dirty bastard "lost" it when I loaned it to him in the 6th grade. He had the nerve to replace it with a copy of Yoshi :fu: |
Super Mario Brothers I. After I ended the game, I gave a big hug to my dog.
