Rewrite History
My thesis is that Jeff Jarrett taking the title from Rhyno before Impact's debut show was the beginning of the end.
What would it have taken to keep the ship afloat? |
If I could rewrite history it would be Jeff Jarrett falling from the rafters not Owen

WWE pays out and brings in ALL the big WCW stars for the invasion angle from the start, with Goldberg leading the charge. Invasion was the biggest missed opportunity in WWE history imo.

All of them except Luger. He's a bastard

Rewrite history....
WCW was not sold to WWE would be my choice. |

My memory could be faulty though so maybe.

Checked. Rhino won at Bound for Glory. Jeff took.it back two days later.

Woman grabs the ropes and Chris Benoit has to break the hold

How different could the current landscape be had Stephanie fallen for Shawn Michaels, not Hunter?

In a serious wrestling sense, it would be a toss-up between a few different things.
* Jim Herd getting put in charge of WCW. If a wrestling personality had gotten into Turner's ear and they put them in charge, maybe things would be very, very different. Hell, maybe if someone else had bought JCP then things would be even better today. Jim Cornette and Brian Last do a great "what if" piece on Bill Watts taking the fight to Vince McMahon. * In the history we know, WCW falling off a cliff came with some poor decisions that went off like a bomb. WCW was built to blow over with a small wind, and Bischoff's success was basically a monkey paw wish -- it would turn ironic very fast. The structuring of contracts was ludicrous. With that being said, 1998 was a great year for them, before it fell off a cliff big-time in 1999. Hogan and Bischoff should have been ousted after Starrcade '97. |
