Mayweather vs McGregor

Apparently it's official

https://www.yahoo.com/sports/m/c62bf...ayweather.html

Ezra 06-15-2017 02:31 PM

I was going to post this thread. Must not have a lot of mma or boxing fans on here. I am excited. Connor has a lot to live up to considering how much he has run his mouth.

Ruien 06-15-2017 03:47 PM

Connor is in for one hell of a payday.

Rammsteinmad 06-15-2017 04:20 PM

Interested for this as it's a boxing match. Thought for sure McGregor would destroy Mayweather in an MMA fight. Had no idea Mayweather was 49-0 though. Fucking hell. Gonna be one hell of a draw.

Big Vic 06-15-2017 04:31 PM

Mayweather is winning, he punches and runs.

Clerk 06-15-2017 05:27 PM

the notorious one will knock him clean out. build up will be biblical

Destor 06-15-2017 11:34 PM

McGregor is getting 100mil according to dana white

I hope he enjoys the pay day because this will be Punk level shame

For 100 million there is little shaming I wouldn't undertake.

Stickman 06-16-2017 12:10 PM

Mcgregor probably won't land a single punch, but holy shit if he gets lucky and lands a heavy one.

road doggy dogg 06-16-2017 02:04 PM

Mayweather will absolutely destroy him. They are both going to make sickening amounts of money though so I'm sure McGregor is more than okay with that

Big Vic 06-16-2017 02:26 PM

Hope Mcgregor loses every round and gets DQ'd in the 11th for KOing Floyd with a spinning heel kick.

Evil Vito 06-16-2017 03:42 PM

I don't see this being a quick KO situation. I could see the fight going the distance as McGregor is used to taking a beating.

But Mayweather will win unanimously via embarrassing McGregor with technique. It's gonna look like an extended sparring match for him.

#1-norm-fan 06-16-2017 03:48 PM

If McGregor is getting paid 100 mil, Mayweather must be getting at least 27 figures, right?

Ruien 06-16-2017 06:53 PM

If Conor wins it will be the end of boxing. The best pound for pound boxer losing at his own sport that is already in the decline will be a critical blow.

Droford 06-16-2017 07:51 PM

Im putting money on McGregor when I go to Vegas. He was +700.

Damian Rey 2.0 06-17-2017 01:03 AM

Can you break down how that works Droford? Like, if I bet $100 on McGregor, at +700, what does that mean for my bet?

Legit question as I might take that bet

Droford 06-17-2017 02:50 AM

You'd win $700

Mayweather is/was -1100 meaning you have to bet $1100 to win $100
I just looked up currently odds and McGregor has been getting a lot of small bets on him to knock the odds down to +450 and -650 respectively.
Theoretically what will probably happen is casual bettors will keep coming in with small bets on the underdog until the books lower the favorites (Mayweather) odds enough to wear the actual big money will come in on Mayweather at more favorable odds and jack McGregor back up. Will probably happen closer to the fight though. That's usually what happens in football anyway

road doggy dogg 06-18-2017 07:10 PM

right now my online book has

Conor + 511
Mayweather -699

over 9.5 rounds +130
under 9.5 rounds -152

Nicky Fives 06-19-2017 12:11 PM

There's no way Conor should win, but that doesn't mean he won't....All it takes is one punch and it can be over.....

Damian Rey 2.0 06-19-2017 03:11 PM

I'm hoping he lands one good, brutal left cross and at least knocks Mayweather down.

Read an article that says McGregor prob won't win but is a wildcard and Floyd may have trouble timing his footwork early on.

Excited to watch it nonetheless. Can you imagine if he actually wins lol

Planet piss

RP 06-20-2017 04:22 AM

If McGregor dont get knocked out within the first 3 rounds then this shit is either rigged, or Mayweather is a punk bitch of a boxer.

Big Vic 06-20-2017 11:21 AM

Mayweather is a punk bitch of a boxer..... that's how he fights.

Rammsteinmad 07-15-2017 12:06 PM

Watching some of the press conference videos for this fight... are boxing matches always hyped liked this? (and likewise, are MMA ones?).

Seeing them both literally rip into each other vocally for ten minutes with endless petty insults and cusses... I dunno, feels like it "weakens" the sport aspect of it all, and is just turning it into a big circus.

Ruien 07-15-2017 01:20 PM

Probably not. This seems more of a pay day and entertainment thing. Not a legit fight. Imo.

Ruien 07-15-2017 01:21 PM

Wouldn't be shocked at all in 10 years it is revealed the fight was scripted.

Rammsteinmad 07-15-2017 01:28 PM

Facebook clickbait article just popped up stating that the whole thing borrows heavily from pro wrestling, and that it's fake because the two have supposedly been caught sharing the same private jets. I didn't click on the actual article though, so take that for what it's worth.

Destor 07-15-2017 03:08 PM

Yes the build up to fights is a work. Finishes to big money fights are commonly rigged as well but not enough to bet the farm on

Destor 07-15-2017 03:08 PM

Also:

Mayweather by TKO via body blows in the middle rounds.

RP 07-16-2017 02:12 AM

I predict they dance around for 12 rounds. McGregor gets a rigged win and they make twice as much for the second fight while we all sit with our thumbs up our asses pretending this shit and a corrupt fucking spot and a huge Ponzi scheme

Droford 07-16-2017 02:46 AM

Somehow I see this ending with Mayweather fighting him in a UFC rules fight

Droford 07-25-2017 06:02 PM

Fathom Events are airing the fight live in various Movie theaters. Its $40 for me here which to me isn't a bad deal..

Ezra 07-26-2017 12:12 AM

Some guy put a 150,000 bet down on McGregor to win. He either is gonna make a million or two or lose big.

I thought about the potential for this fight to be rigged. Seems like the perfect fight to do it, to, as Mayweather/McGregor 2 (which would be rigged in Floyds favor) and 3 would be HUGE money makers for the 2.

However, I just don't see it actually going down. No way Floyd throws his 50th fight to a non-boxer when he is 49-0. His ego won't let his record be tarnished like that.

Actually he's only winning $667,500 + his $150,000 back ($817,500.00 total) if Connor wins as he apparently got +445 on Connor. Some places in Vegas and online still have him @+500 which would be 750k/900k total

HAHAHAHA!

Mayweather would never go for that shit. Especially since what makes him a great boxer in the ring also makes him a boring one in the ring. Retreating and landing shots for score won't really fly in the octagon. A clench for resting/wearing down his opponent would backfire quickly.

Also, having to add a third dimension to his arsenal at the twilight of his career would make him an easer target than CM Punk. Anything on the ground would be unnatural, even in the unlikely event he were somehow in a position of advantage.

Too much risk, not enough reward for Money.
