I (think I) read an article where they said this Halloween would be a sequel to Halloween II and would act like the other Halloweens never happened. I liked Halloween H20 with Jamie Lee but I would also be cool with this. I think it's cool JLC is returning to Halloween one more time!
|
Why?
|
Were the later Halloweens... bad? I never understood the first reboot attempt and this seems out of nowhere. But sure, Jamie's back. Let's do this.
|
Danny McBride is one of the writers and he teamed up with Blumhouse Films (who seems to make nearly every horror film these days) and pitched it to John Carpenter, who loved it and has been hired as a creative consultant on the movie.

Well he certainly did that in the Rob reboot.
So what are people wanting of a Halloween film? |

Why? |
People really are asking why when IT will crack 200 million this week and horror films make $$$ even when they don't go anywhere near 100 million.
|
IT was directed by a good director based on one of the greatest modern horror stories ever.
|
It also was a retelling. Which worked well for zombie's halloween...why do we need a new JLC halloween?
|
"Oh mam i wonder how that character is doing in 2017"
|
...wut
|
Eh, I am always happy to see JLC back in a Halloween flick. With Carpenter and Blumhouse involved I think there is potential for a good flick too.
|
Aside from Halloween III the sequels were not horrible by today's indy standards and really don't understand erasing h20.
|
I actually liked H20.
|
granted they probably should have thought out the ending better

The less we know about him the better |
Jamie Lee Curtis is like 80 years old. Michael Myers could probably beat her in a race now.

It has been awhile since I've seen any of the Halloween films, but didn't they kill off JLC's character in one of the later films?

I call shenanigans.

In cinema years Halloween is ancient and remaking it is another indictment on today's John Carpenter. It's common knowledge that the film industry spent the entire 80's trying to recapture that formula with varying degrees of success in cheap nasty slasher films that Jamie Lee Curtis herself occassionally starred in. Seeing her rehash the same story for the 50th time is just absolutely pointless because she's done it under the Halloween banner and several others and the returns are either diminished or barely noticeable and the end product is always garbage in comparison to the original Halloween. John Carpenters ideas for Halloween have never been used to make a good movie without him and he himself hasn't made a good movie for thirty years so I sincerely doubt a background dominating annoyance like Danny McBride is going to knock up anything that could override my memories of Busta Rhymes front kicking Michael Myers out of a fucking window. |
You understand I was talking about IT?

They should make a film that erases John Carpenter's output for the last thirty years. You can see he has no interest in making worthwhile contributions to the industry anymore. In addition to having no inspiration these days he obviously can't rely on his signature hyperkinetic, absurd animatronics or rubber made-up monstrosities to provide the accompanying visuals to his distinct brand. The end of the 80's was the end of John Carpenter really and I'm not particularly sad about that. Tremors was better than anything he had done for years when it came out and it felt like another director had taken up the mantle of mock-schlock in his honour. I'm not joking when I say I prefer the numerous low budget Tremors sequels to his heartbreakingly bad 90's and 2000's efforts. |

It's not a big issue anyway, none of it takes away the point I'm making. |
Just for the record IT is not one of the greatest modern horror stories either.
IT is yet another Stephen King book that suffers from an infuriatingly poor ending. All those hundreds of pages and then Stephen King takes a dump right on your face. That's what you get when you read IT all the way through. Actually that's pretty much what happens when you read Stephen King all the way through. You usually have to get past some truly grim sexual assaults or underage sex first though. |
For the record it is.
|
Totally subjective.
Tend to agree with seanny. Bill communing with a turtle god that created the universe by throwing up seemed utterly ridiculous and out of place in the story to me. And then Bev saves everyone by fucking them. The fuck? |
I mean, it's not as bad as the later dark tower books, but it definitely brings it down a few pegs.
Dreading the movie sequel a little bit as the director said he was saving all the macroverse stuff for part two. |
Any opportunity is a good opportunity: I was the stand as a HBO series

I think Rob Lowe is a bit of a Stephen King adaptation poster boy. I'd rather have seen him in IT than John Boy. |
Drop the trailer plz
