Brock Lesnar is better in every single way.
|
Like I said in the previous round, Rey Mysterio is boring as fuck in my opinion.
Love the Lesnar/Heyman duo with Heyman being great on the mic and Lesnar just being there looking like he will rip your heart out and eat it raw. I guess I prefer the powerhouse style of wrestling. Also, Lesnar really did a lot for WWE, becoming the first ex-WWE employee to show that he's also legit in the UFC, by beating Frank Mir for the title. So Lesnar by a milestone. |
Yeah, Lesnar wins this one by far. Mysterio was incredible for what he was but if I'm starting a company from scratch it's no contest who I choose between the two of them.
|
Rey Mysterio.
Honestly, both of them have all the reasons in the world why they should win this round, but in Rey's defence, Lesnar over the last few years has become lazy and has never really given a fuck about pro wrestling. Yes, he's a star attraction and worked his ass off to get to the level he's at, but ultimately, Rey would have made an effort to have a great match with Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins etc, as opposed to just fuck it I'm gonna go in suplex him to death and go home. |
Plus, I feel bad for how badly poor Rey Rey is gonna job in this round. :(

Rey Mysterio is probably my least favorite guy ever so...Brock

Brock Lesnar's star is in another galaxy compared to Rey. Rey was very popular, but Lesnar is a legitimate megastar, and the only reason I was keeping up with WWE for the last 18 months pre-Mania before I stopped watching.
At the end of the day, we watch wrestling for great stories, but also true, believable stars clashing with other true believable stars. We want to see what happens. Lesnar/Goldberg was everything wrestling should be for me. Two larger than life stars clashing and you can't take your eyes off it. Rey was entertaining, but you never watched for Rey's sake. Lesnar is money just because of who he is. |
Torn on this. Arg.
|
Lol at this one. No contest.
|
bwahahahahahahhaHAHAHA.........HAHAHAHAHA
Brock dominates this one lets hope the same can't be said when he runs into Samoa Joe. |
Really thought Rey was wearing pink booty shorts upon first scroll

For a once in a generation workers Rey isnt doing so hot
|
Brock Lesnar ushered in the attitude era so.... :shifty:
Seriously, Brock by a landslide. The look, the freakiness, the inhuman althetic ability and strength just round him out as one of the greatest ever. |

Went with Rey. Brock is only Brock because of Heyman.

Brock.
Rey was still cool to watch back in the day. |
Rey Mysterio. If it was not for him, there'd be no one on the main roster under 250 pounds.

I'm giving Rey a pity vote here because he's done some of the most amazing things I've ever seen in a wrestling ring and was a big part of me being drawn in to wrestling as a kid. Also giving him some points for longevity whereas Brock only had two years as a full-time wrestler on television.
But zero qualms with Brock totally running away with this thing. Very interested in seeing who he matches up against next round. |
Angle will fuck his best friend Brock up.
|
Kurt wont be eligable until #68
|
Brock Lesnar because he brings that big fight feel that not many people can bring. Rey is legendary but doesn't bring that big fight feel with him.

Oh yeah. I get that. Fin is super marketable but i dont feel like he's credible...
|
Tough choice but gave the slight nod to Lesnar.
Both are great as wrestlers in different ways. Rey has the longevity and being a legend for Lucha wrestling in the US while Lesnar has a special aura of mystic and great agility for someone of his size in a wrestling/WWE sense. Lesnar is probably also the biggest "What If" of the post-Attitude Era considering how very different things would have been if he never left or the WWE was a bit slower with his mega rise to prevent burnout/boredom. |
Brock wins and it's not even close, albeit mostly based on his 2002-2004 run. The man tore through the roster from the get-go, dominated the 2002 KotR, beat Rock for the belt @ SummerSlam that year, and was mostly unstoppable. He had an epic match with Kurt @ WM XIX and also against Eddie @ No Way Out 2004...he actually looked strong in defeat there.
Rey on the other hand feels like he has had some feel-good underdog moments, but only moments. There aren't any matches of his that I recall standing out and really wowing me. For those reasons, I voted Brock. |

Gonna throw a pity vote to Rey Mysterio.
Honestly been going back and forth on this one.... Lesnar's current matches are not good at all from a "wrestling" standpoint....... but from a "spectacle" standpoint they/him are off the charts...... So I was going back and forth weighing "wrestling" and "spectacle"....... in the end, spectacle won out and I feel like I should vote Lesnar because he's BROCK LESNAR. But as I said, I'll give Rey a pity vote instead. |

Brock is Apple pie and Heyman is Ice Cream both are fantastic separately but together they are awesome. Brock is the only wrestler around that imo can defend the title the same way Hogan did in the 80's. |
Hogan has more charisma in one finger than Brock has in his entire body.

People are kidding themselves though if Brock didn't have Hey man or another manager to be his mouth piece for the majority of his career that he would be where he is today.
|
Yeah silent power hoises have never worked amirite
|
(Not that its even relevent mind you having a manager cant be spun as a negitive no matter how bad you want it to be)
|
Not saying he would not have been good or great still but Brock has/had serious help getting over.
|
Everyone has.
|
If you say so. Don't remember Cena having someone needing to speak for him constantly. Or Angle. Or, well you get the point.
|
Lesnar did fine when he didn't have Heyman.

Vince has this fetish with EVERYONE having to talk and it's just fucking retarded. Brock gets over without talking. |

I read an interview with Heyman some years back about how their friendship began. How Brock came from a very humble place and was openly looking to be mentored. A guy with his physique and athletic talent had great odds regardless, but look at what happened to Goldberg and Giant in WCW. Brock had one of the best rookie years I've seen and not because he won, but because of the level he was performing at and the sheer amount of work he put in to be seen as legitimate. He's genuinely the biggest thing in wrestling for the foreseeable future too. As for Rey, still an amazing talent and athlete who made me care in the ring. I also really enjoyed his recent work in Lucha Underground. His appeal and Legendary status in Mexico also counts for a lot. I could totally go either way and justify my vote. I have to go with guy whose matches I like more right now and that's Rey. |
Quote:
|
Yeah Idk what everyone's thinking but I think Lesnar himself is hilarious on the mic. Very similar to Scott Steiner.
|
I don't see why Brock being mentored by Heyman is a bad thing. Rey had mentors and people to bring out the best in him too. That's kind of what wrestling is.
|
Quote:
Its all the same. |
Mentors and on air managers are two different things. No id3a why you can't grasp that but okay.
|
Managers arent negitives, i dont know why you cant grasp that but ok
|
Brock would have been big in Japan without Heyman.
47% certain. |
I think what Ruien is trying to say is that Brock needing a manager somehow betrays a deficiency. Is that correct? Like, I think you're trying to say that Brock didn't have mic skills and only got over because of Heyman, whereas Rey doesn't have mic skills but still got over, meaning that Rey > Brock?
I don't agree, but I am just trying to follow your logic. I think mic skills are only part of the puzzle, just like your technical ability is only part of it too. I think disqualifying Brock based on Heyman being useful at the start and now is a bit silly. Brock didn't even have Heyman for most of that first run. |
Quote:
|
Yeah, it's a bit of a silly point.
|
You are talking about 2 legends. Of course you will nit pick small points.
|
Also, 1 match has very little correlation to a wrestlers entire career Destor.
|
Theres a fuck ton of workers who had managers. Id rather here why you think it matters. You might be the first person in the history of ever to argue this
|
A wrestler who NEEDS a manager to get over typically lacks mic skills. This was the propelling point for Brock. Would he still have been great? Probably. But he needed Heyman to get to that level of superstardom.
If you think Brock is amazing on the mic then good for you. |
Can elaborate on how needed the mic to get over? Or are you contending thay without mic work ome can not get over? If so what is your case for mysterio?
|
Because I don't feel that he would have? I don't have a different universe to compare it my feelings to. Sorry.
And yes, Braun is currently over without mic skills. Not saying it is impossible. But to hit legend status? There is a huge difference between being over and being a legend. As I said a couple post up, we are talking about legends here. |
Mysterio spent the bulk of his career mute and neber once cut a memorable promk. Its invalid for this particular contest at the least
|
Destor, I deeply apologize that you do not agree with my vote and reason.

The whole point is to have pointless debates

Fuck all of you. Taz never should have lost.

How long ago were the previous better wrestler polls?
|
I think they started in 07 maybe and ended kn 2012ish
Thats off the top of my head |
Takes a bit to get 16 HoFers. Course its slower at first with strong names in the pool to take out other strong names. As the get retired into the Hall though there at the end its easier to go in.
|
CM Punk originally beat a shit-ton of people apparently.
|
Yeah i think he had 4 attempts. Lost twice as a challenger, went to a HoF round and lost and then finally went into the HoF... i dont expect him to go in this time...
|
Whats most interesting is last time Cena was laughed out of the place and this time i expect him to go into the hall...it may take another 100 or more matches but i think once the upper echelons are in he will be tough to stop.
|
Just on the point about Brock needing a manager somehow being a bad thing: I don't actually remember a Heyman promo from that point in time. Honestly. I remember him selling from the outside and yelling stuff out, and I do remember "The Next Big Thing" branding. What I do remember is stuff like Brock destroying Rikishi, The Hardyz, Hogan and The Rock.
I know this is a subjective poll and all that, but I don't think Destor so much disagrees with your pick as your reasoning, Ruein. I think what you're saying is that people are arguing from the position of "Brock is such a huge star," but that he wouldn't have been there without Heyman because he lacked mic skills, whereas even without mic skills, Rey Mysterio was a huge star? Like, I think I get what you mean. You're sort of saying that Brock had shortcuts and that people aren't considering those shortcuts when voting for him, and sort of using a "Brock is God" form of circular reasoning? I still think you have to consider a hypothetical Brock in that scenario. You have to consider a Brock who didn't do the things he did in wrestling. You're sort of disqualifying Brock on his own merits then. I do think it is a weird way to think about things. Rey didn't have mic skills either, as Destor pointed out. But are you saying that he is different because he got over without mic skills, whereas you don't think Brock hypothetically would, even though he did, because they found a way to supplement that? Hypothetically: Rey would be disqualified if small guys never won matches in the WWE (hold your jokes), but they used a big guy to be his tag team partner to introduce him and get him over, so he could then start beating people? Because if he didn't have that crutch, he never would have made it? But isn't all booking then sort of a crutch? If Austin wasn't booked to win the WWF Title from Shawn Michaels in 1998, then maybe he would have lost steam and wouldn't have made it on his own merits? A better example: If Shawn Michaels had never gotten a look because of his size, unless he was paired with Marty Jannetty, do you need to credit Marty Jannetty with all Shawn Michaels' success? I'm genuinely not trying to be ass, I'm just fascinated by how you've gotten to where you are, haha. |
Brock Lesnar and that one legged wrestler that needed a crutch.
|
The Zack Gowen program was stellar lol

Who, as a one-legged person, between Rollins à la WM 33 or Zack Gowen, MICHIGAN'S BEST, WOOO!, would win an ass-kicking contest between them?
Let us all take our time and ponder this deep, life-changing philosophical question and discuss after reflecting upon the matter at hand (or in this case, at leg). |
We can all agree that Zack Gowen is at the very least better than RVD.
