For those suffering from framerate issues in non-Zelda Switch games, a quick fix involves turning off "auto connect" for Wi-Fi.

According to analyst firm SuperData, Switch is rumored to have sold around 1.5 million consoles since its launch with almost an even split among the 3 major regions for the console. Would put it higher than the 3DS and Wii U in regards to recent system launches for the company. In terms of attach-rates, Zelda: Breath of the Wild is estimated to be owned by 89% of all Switch owners. https://www.destructoid.com/new-data...e-424894.phtml |
Who would buy a switch and not Zelda?
|
Zelda sold out a couple of times around here, so if someone wanted a physical copt, they may have had to wait.
My friend just got Bomberman with hers for the kids though... |
Oh yeah, you can now download the Splatoon 2 testfire game ready for the testfires on these days

my favourite thing is how the US dates show M/DD and the Europe dates show DD/MM
|
I'd post the Japanese one too as it has Japanese text, which is a nice touch.

PSA: Blaster Master Zero now supports the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller probably gonna snag it this weekend |
Yeahhhh, I held off for that.
Have surprisingly liked the split d-pad on the Joycon for Shovel Knight, but I think this needs more control. KOF '98 certainly does. |
According to the Wall Street Journal, Nintendo is ramping up production of the Switch from its original 8 million target to now around 16 million consoles for the year starting next month.
Also revealed they didn't want another Wii U situation from occurring in regards to over-production which was why their early sales expectations were on the low end. Quote:

WB are pulling a fast one with Lego City Undercover. The eShop download is apparently 7.1GB which is weird as the Wii U game is 20GB. Looks like it downloads extra data though.
The physical cart version says it needs 13.1GB download space and that internet connection is required. To cheap out on cart storage, they're making people download the rest of the game. |
I went ahead and grabbed Snipperclips and 1-2 Switch in anticipation of being seated next to a smokeshow on my flight tomorrow and joining the Air Sex Society as a result of us hitting it off playing with my Switch. Wish me luck.
|
I will be doing the same in a week on a train, except that I'll be sat next to my girlfriend which will probably end in hotel sex rather than train bathroom sex.
|
But who knows, maybe I'll snipperclip her just right that we have to do something THERE AND THEN
|
scandalous

Lego City Underground is fine, the box is allegedly wrong.

Have all the flaws been corrected? Wondering if it is safe to buy one of these now.

Chrono Trigger's director, Takashi Tokita, recently teased he's currently working on a new game for the Switch.
https://www.destructoid.com/chrono-t...t-430415.phtml |
Brought 1-2 Switch over to my friends' place this weekend. Just a night in of drinking/board games/etc. Took the Switch out and played some of the games. Really fucking fun game. Some of the games are kind of duds but some are awesome in a party type environment.
I still think it's way overpriced for what it is, but I'm glad I bought it at least. |
ARMS looks great, comes out June 16th with a 2v2 mode and neon yellow joycons if you want them
Splatoon 2 has a co-op horde mode and new Amiibo (duh). Comes out July 21st. Cloud and Bayonetta Amiibos can be preordered, both have their player 2 alts (Advent Children and Bayonetta 1 outfit) For some reason, there are extended JoyCon battery packs going to be available. Is 20 hours of controller time not good enough for some people? |
Quote:
|
I'm digging those yellow Joycons. Gonna grab Arms. And MK8 Deluxe this month. Actually heading to my buddy's place today because he has a copy of Lego City Undercover he's trying to get rid of so I'm gonna scoop that up.
I didn't think my 3DS' demise would be so sudden but here we are |
I keep saying; the 3DS is dead.
|
It's not dead until after Fire Emblem Echoes, Monster Hunter Stories and a new Kirby.
Shame those that don't need the 3DS form factor won't be ported though... |
Finally got one. Playing zelda now obv. Very happy.
|
Probably the best time if you have free time right now. A couple of weeks of Zelda and then MK8 is out.
|
Pro controller is top of the line. Def top 5 but possible top 3 fav controllers ever
|
According to analyst firm SuperData, Switch is currently rumored to have sold around 2.4 million consoles during its first month.
If true, would be higher than Nintendo's expectations of around 2 million for its launch month. https://www.gamespot.com/articles/ni.../1100-6449367/ |
Day 2 of switch: decided to take it into hand held mode. Doesnt work anymore apparently, black screen. Yay.
|
OH NOES! Did you get it working again?
|
Quote:
Held power button for 15 seconds, then turn on again normally and it worked ok! |
That was the first thing i did as well. Alas no. Back lignt powers on. Audio still works. No picture. Works in dock though. Ill beat zelda and then throw it in the trash i guess.
|
You should send it back to Nintendo straight away, anything i have read has said they are very swift dealing with any issues like this
|
Website wouldnt let start a claim for this
|
Can't you go back to the store?
|
Not their problem apparently. It still works in dock. I'll deal.
|
Whow, you went to a shitty store.
|
Cant be too bent out of shape, i cant prove i didnt cause the issue. Is what it is. Defective product all the same. Bery sour taste in my mouth about it. Im more angry with nintendo not repairing it than i am the store.
|
My friend has one of those loot crate dealios where they send him shit every month. He doesn't have a Switch but got Lego City Undercover and was looking to unload it cheap so I grabbed it. Fun game so far but I worry about the framerate. Looks great though. I mostly wanted to get it to play co-op with my nephew so hopefully the framerate issues I've been reading about aren't that bad

3DS IS NOT DEAD |
I give it 2 more years, and even then that'll mean it's had an 8 year lifespan which is pretty good
|
This was posted on the Splatoon 2 site. I'm guessing the final splatfest in the original will tie into the single player

0 Switches in case at Target when I looked yesterday. 4 Ps4 and 3 Ones. Nintendoomed.
|
It's almost like they sell out as soon as they get restocked. Doom indeed..
|
You buy Puyo Puyo Tetris, Hasney?
The demo is very nice, almost too good... I don't feel any pressing urge to pick up the full just yet lol |
Yeah, exactly. I'm just grabbing games here and there from the demo and I feel satisfied. Think they fucked that up adding multiplayer so I'll probably grab it in a sale.
Was tempted at one point, then I watched people with early copies going online and getting fucking destroyed and it scared me off. I'll never be that good at either game. |

Of course they will have games/accessories they want to sell those things to the people who do own a switch.
|
So consoles selling out is a sign of doom.
I feel we've reached the zenith of cynical analysis. |
Places over here are having a grey re-stock for Mario Kart on Friday, but some places that took pre-orders for that stock like Amazon have already been sold out. Neons are back in May 5th so see how long that lasts.

According to Nintendo, they sold around 2.74 million Switch consoles for its launch month. Around 740k more than they were expecting for best case scenario and ahead of schedule for the 10 million they are hoping before the end of the fiscal year.
In terms of Zelda, sold slightly more than actual Switch consoles for its launch month. Wii U version sold over a million for its launch. Quote:

I had my copy of zelda a month prior to the switch

I uh... is that a joke?
|

It's basically what they did with the GBA with the GameBoy Micro where they put it out at a cheap price. They did that Wii Mini too. |
Like, that actually looks like probably the best iteration of the xDS line they've come out with to date.
But in typical Nintendo fashion, they come out with this at the exact moment that Switch hype is at pitch fever. Tremendous. |
I wonder what the trade-in value for the N3DSXL is. I wouldn't be terribly opposed to swapping mine for that, if the price was right
|
The White/Orange one is pretty sweet too
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/C-drrKbV0AAAdxx.jpg:large The hinge is pretty horrible though. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/C-d2yTnUMAA17vm.jpg |
Hey it actually comes with an adapter this time
|
|
LL?
|
It's what the Japs call the XL models. It means 'Large large' which is what they call 'extra large'

Huh, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is the best selling game of the year so far at amazon.com
|
It's sold more than BOTW already? I find that hard to believe
|
Seems Amazon wasn't expecting the large amount of pre-orders that came in for the game and are currently having inventory problems.
Some people got their orders delayed till early May from Amazon. http://www.polygon.com/2017/4/28/154...-amazon-delays |
Did not know Amazon gave a 20% discount if you are order a game. Seems like a big discount to give out.

Here in the UK, they give £2 off.... |
MK8 Deluxe is the fastest selling Mario Kart in history in the US. Considering Mario Kart Wii is the 3rd best selling game of all time, that's pretty damn good.
459,000 copies in one day. |
Nice. Everything so far has been pretty positive for the Switch, minus supply issues which I guess is a somewhat good problem to have in the overall scheme of things.
Been working on unlocking all the kart parts still, while slowly chipping away at the golden stuff. I've beaten about 4 staff ghosts so far, a long way to go yet... |
Also, even though you did say it, it's nice to point out that the 459k is just US/NA numbers.
For curiousity sake I looked up "fastest-selling" numbers/stats....... still crazy that GTA V sold 12 million its first day. Ridiculous |

Instantly read this as "Mortal Kombat 8 Deluxe...." followed by the rest being normal. :wtf: |
According to the Wall Street Journal, main reason Nintendo was able to sell more consoles than they were expecting was due to them eating a lot of money on using two shipping methods.
Bulk of the Switches were done with regular sea shipping while smaller batches arrived by plane which cost them around $45 per console. Gave Nintendo the ability to rush more consoles out of China by plane when they were done rather than having to wait till they could fill the numbers needed for a sea shipment. https://www.gamespot.com/articles/to.../1100-6449691/ |

Do you go Gears or God when someone says GoW? |
Gears. I think just because I hear more about it.
|
God easily for me
|
MK = Mortal Kombat
GoW = Gears of War Probably just because gears hasbeen around more, the past 10 years. Never heard anyone refer to mario kart as mk tho. That was always mortal kombat. |
I made the same mistake, and thought "When did Nintendo approve a Mortal Kombat game?"
GoW for me is automatcally God of War, because anyone I know referring to Gears of War usually just says "Gears" followed by whatever number. |

I think the Wii sold like 2.88 Mill in the same amount of time.

Anyone else play much of MK8D so far? I've gotten the gold kart for beating all of 150cc and mirror. Working on beating the Time Trial staff ghosts, and they all seem fairly easier than I remember the ghosts ever being. I'm thinking they're intentionally tuned to be easy to beat and not meant to be a super tough measure of skill etc. Like if you compare the staff ghost to the online racer times, the racers online have like 10+ second leads on the staff time...
One thing I do like about the staff ghosts is they do tend to show you a lot of the shortcuts in the maps, which I'm also starting to think might be intentional. They typically start off with the first lap getting to 10 coins then in laps 2/3 they use one or two shortcuts in the map. If you follow along with them you can learn their route then easily beat them, but learning where those shortcuts are is kind of neat. I've done about 1/3 of the courses now against the staff ghosts, will probably finish them tonight and unlock Gold Mario I guess |
Gold Mario is unlocked by coming first on all the 200cc cups rather than time trials. That is pretty hard in places, the only challenge really.
|
Oops, yeah, the TT thing is for another one of the gold kart pieces... wheels or glider, I forget which (the other is getting 10k coins)
