PUNK WINS! PUNK WINS! PUNK WINS!

SlickyTrickyDamon 06-05-2018 05:03 PM

Hausman went above and beyond for coverage of the trial. Kudos to him. Also Punk has another fight of his life on Saturday.

Emperor Smeat 06-05-2018 05:16 PM

The first day or two of the trial pretty much doomed Amann's chances of winning. Nothing that got revealed from Cabana or Punk's side of the trial was as comparable to Amann possibly violating medical rules and laws as a doctor in the WWE.

Evil Vito 06-05-2018 05:43 PM

I suffered nothing except for Twitter trolling.
Also I want $4 million in damages.

Ultra Mantis 06-05-2018 05:58 PM

Hope somebody gives Amann a Z-Pack to fix his broken bank balance.

Evil Vito 06-05-2018 06:00 PM

Punk and Cabana aren’t out of the woods yet, 50/50 booking says Dr. Amann wins the retrial.

Dark One 06-05-2018 06:32 PM

Mike Litoris is the true breakout star of this trial.

I expect him to be jobbing on Main Event by September.

Bad News Gertner 06-05-2018 06:42 PM

The only win Punk will have all week

Ol Dirty Dastard 06-05-2018 07:05 PM

He may have a chance based on the fact he is fighting a tomato can.

And by chance I mean he could escape the first round.

xrodmuc316 06-05-2018 10:11 PM

This was petty WWE B.S. from the start. The fact that they went after Colt too just proves it.

Hopefully Amann, or more likely WWE since they clearly bankrolled and pushed this thing, have to pay restitution of all of Punk's and Colt's Legal Fees.

Ol Dirty Dastard 06-06-2018 07:19 AM

Where's Destor? I thought Punk was supposed to lose!

I don't think so. He had a reason to sue just didn't do a good job in making his case. You can only get court costs back in specific instances where it was clear that it was a case without merit.

I'd be a little bit shocked if they did that. Loser pays does not exist for a large part of America because of freedom of speech.

Ol Dirty Dastard 06-06-2018 09:26 AM

I can understand why Amann sued. I'm sure in his mind he was right, and Punk raked his reputation over the coals.

Innovator 06-06-2018 09:52 AM

Podcasting would've been fucked if they found for Amann

How so?

It seems like it wouldn't have been any different than any other broadcasting or publication formats in which defamation occurs and has occurred throughout history. Defamation has been alleged and successfully claimed countless times through publication via print, radio, television, oral speech, on the internet, etc. None of those formats have been fucked by successful or mere allegations of defamation claims.

Defamation is defamation, regardless of the format it occurs in. It has never had any impact on silencing or harming any industry or format as a whole. It's only impacted individual people or companies after they engaged in defamation by publishing a false statement of fact about others that harms their reputation.

Because the guy doing the interview should be protected against what his guest says. Had Amann just sued Punk it would have been a standard case.

If every podcaster had to worry they might get sued for something their guest may say or imply, nobody would want to take that chance, or at the very least only book boring guests.

If they ruled in favor of Amann, assuming the cost were down the middle, Colt could have owed in excess of $2 million.

That is why there are always disclosures stating that the views of the individual performer may not represent the views of the company, because greedy people try to sue people not responsible from time to time.

And no, Amann did not suffer at all. Kept his job, lost no reputation, etc. His biggest beef was wrestling fans taunting him and writing stuff on Twitter.

By that logic Roman Reigns could sue WWE because they booked him so badly that he gets booed and shitposted about on Twitter, and on TPWW!

Wait until your post from December 17th, 2015 is entered into evidence in that trial, then maybe you will see the absurdity.

Agreed. Ambrose is way more naturally charismatic, a much better actor and seems to be able to cut a much better promo than almost all of the roster, especially Reigns.

KIRA 06-06-2018 01:00 PM

Can that momentum carry CM Punk into this weekend?

Jordan 06-06-2018 01:02 PM

I hope so, I won't be able to take him seriously as a wrestler if he gets squashed again in the Octagon.

Batista got his one MMA win and that was enough for him to be satisfied he accomplished his dream of being an MMA fighter, and moved on.

However if Punk wins, he will surely get another UFC fight, and the $1 million or so that he would make wouldn't be something he would pass up.

If he loses and tries to crawl back to wrestling with his tail tucked as a failure, he certainly won't be viewed in the same glowing light he was in 2014.

Ezra 06-06-2018 01:19 PM

Disagree. Punk can get stomped this weekend, show up at all in, hit a gts on cody and everyone will cream themselves.

#1-norm-fan 06-06-2018 05:08 PM

Definitely. That one night, people would go nuts. Long-term though...

KIRA 06-06-2018 11:55 PM

Unless he made a massive Improvement I have a feeling he's going to be using that newly-won money to pay off his medical bills

Ol Dirty Dastard 06-07-2018 09:10 AM

Again, the guy Punk is fighting is fucking garbage--so it's actually a good matchup for him. I'm not saying he's going to win, but this is no Mickey Gall who is an actual professional fighter. This guy is the equivalent to Homer fighting boxcar fred. He may be hungry, but he's fighting for a sandwich.

He didn't win any money, he just wasn't successfully sued.

Oops my bad still I hope he finds comfort in that win while he's taking a beating.

Seems WWE's doc is in more hot water after more court documents from the case were made public.

Besides possibly violating medical ethics with the way he prescribed medicine and treated patients, WWE's doc was also dating wrestlers who were his patients which is another big ethics violation.

Also seems WWE wasn't aware of this beforehand and started their own investigation on the doctor.

Bix is tremendous. Definitely check out his Between the Sheets podcast with Kris Zellner if you haven't. Best wrestling podcast around.

Will be hilarious of this lawsuit horrifically backfires on this fuckwit.

A good time travel to see what was going on in the world of wrestling year by year.

SlickyTrickyDamon 06-15-2018 12:30 PM

Well, he might have some "damages" to complain about now. Too bad for him the trial is over.

BigCrippyZ 06-15-2018 01:03 PM

More like he wouldn't have a valid legal claim upon which a court could grant relief.

Certainly not for defamation, emotional distress, invasion of privacy, or public disclosure of private facts. They're apparently true statements made in part in pursuit of a legal proceeding about facts that were not kept private (their co-workers apparently knew) and the Dr. even admitted to their truthfulness under oath.

A 12(b)(6) motion would almost definitely easily kill any suit based on some claim re: this info coming out.

I've listened to all 151 episodes at least twice. Even the 6 and a half hour long ones like this past week.
