TPWW Greatest Manager of All Time Tournament: Qualifying Round Part 1
Gonna try to do a tournament once every couple months or so to decide TPWW's definitive favorite in different categories. First off... THE GREATEST MANAGER OF ALL TIME TOURNAMENT. For the sake of not making it too cluttered, I'm splitting this qualifying round into 2. There will be a total of 64 managers in this tournament. WHO WILL WIN??? (Alright, there isn't a lot of drama here. But the journey/discussion could be fun at least...) 4 or 5 of these a tough
Great idea and great category to start off with. Wrestling managers are something that is lacking in wrestling today. Enzo would be a great manager I feel. Might take a while to get these first round vite in though.
Is a poll coming or should i list my picks?
Yeah wa fixing to list which is what might have taken a while.

The one I'm having trouble with most is actually Zeb Colter vs. Trish Stratus, lol. Like, Colter is great at talking...but Trish Stratus...
Polls up!
All right, now we're talking.
Where the hell is THE MOUTH OF THE SOUTH in there?
Well, you forgot Jim Cornette and Jimmy Hart.

This is only part 1 of the qualifying round.
Doing 64 poll options in one go would have been... yeah... |
Yay.
Theres only a couple people on that entire list that I MIGHT pick over Jimmy Hart, honestly. And it would be a HARD choice.

ACCEPTABLE. |
Baby Doll over Captain Lou Albano SimpleFan?
Disqualify all of his votes. |
Probably would have noticed if I actually read your posts.....but I had to click on the shiny spoiler tags and skip that part.

Shout out to Sullivan for being worst on this list

Agree that some are left out of this greatest manager category while there are some questionable entries as well but also recongize this is just part 1 of the qualifying round. Any way some of the compelling matchups for me were Steph vs Sherri, JJ Dillon vs Truth Martini, Colter vs Trish, Teddy vs Vickie, and Estrada vs Race. I ended up going with Steph, Dillon, Colter, Vickie, and Estrada.
Yea Teddy vs Vickie was a tough one for me, as was Estrada vs Race.

I'm surprised how close Mr. Fuji vs Slick is, tbh. Mr. Fuji was the shiznittttteeee.
I really love Slick. Just think Mr. Fuji is a lot more significant and got a lot more heat.
Ive got a sweet spot for the diamond doll
I voted for Kimberly too. Never really impressed by Whippleman. Kimberly added something to the overall presentation of things.

No clue how ono is losing right now
The most toughest for me were Steph vs Sherri, Dillon vs Truth, and Colter vs Trish. I chose Steph over Sherri just because she was involved in alot bigger storylines and obviously a bigger part of the individual
Industry, Sherri was great though.Dillon vs Truth was only hard because I'm a big fan of Truth Martini and think he's one of the best modern day managers, Dillon is the obvious choice though. Would have loved to see Truth in a better matchup really. Colter vs Trish wasn't all that hard as I took Colters previous work as a manager under a different name into the equation as well and he clearly comes out on top. Trish is hot though and the only thing good about T&A. |

I've probably seen more of Onoo live but it just didn't stick out to me. Sullivan resurfacing in ROH recently though made me look him up and watch a bit of him and he just seems more interesting to me than Onoo. |
Kevin Sullivan is amazing. That's why.

Also, The Grand Wizard better be in the second round of polls.
Anybody voting against Ernie Roth will feel the wrath of STD.
Heyman looks like Jim Belushi in that pic.

What do you consider him "managing"? He's really not a manager to begin with. He was great with the New Guinea Headhunters in Continental, his stuff with the Varsity Club and his Florida stuff.

None of it worked.
Sullivan is that gimp Benoit stole his wife from, right?
lol correct
Fuck that midget.
If we are considering his Dungeon of Doom stuff as managing, then his stuff with the Headhunters and Varsity Club count too. That stuff was great.
Save some time and just do Heyman vs Heenan

Can't really consider the women to be Managers..they were Valets. Unless it was Alexandra York of the York Foundation

Some of these have no business being first round matches. Slick is getting hosed.
Slick was a jobber manager.
Slick really stank
Heenan vs oscar lol
Who is Oscar?
Men On a Mission
Slick was a fucking Jive Soul Bro, so why don't you guys go fuck yourselves?
He also convinced Kamala that he. Was. A MAN!
Gripping stuff. |
Also, I definitely didn't vote for Slick, but you know what I mean.

And led who to great success? David Flair?

I'll say this. There's nobody from the round here that she deserves to be on the list over.

I dunno, I think Debra was good for what she was. They had similar managerial tactics. Debra's clients at least saw a slight modicum of success.
I wasn't arguing that Stacy wasn't a manager, either. I was just saying she doesn't need to be in this competition. Like, at all. Debra's not about to make it past this round either. |
Debra shtick was annoying each week she stands on the apron to show her "puppies" so Jarret can pick up the W and each week the wrestler falls for it.

2nd set better have
Bill Alphonso Jim Cornette Jimmy hart Paul Bearer Col Robert Parker Clarence Mason Eric Bischoff Janes Mitchel/Vandenberg The Genius Brother Love Afformentioned Alexandra York as she was one of the few actual Female Managers I can think of plus valets - Elizabeth Missy Hyatt Lana Sunny |
If we're including valets then we should also include Ralphus

And yes. Yes I do. You think she has better tits than Paul Heyman? |
Wait so effective..in a kayfabe sense?
Capt. Lou wins then no contest. |
