Anyone got any crazy predictions for 2017?

Does anyone have any crazy predictions for 2017? I'd love to hear them here. This is your chance to be as wild as possible and at the end of the year, if anyone remembers, we can see if any of them came true.

I can see Michael Cole leaving RAW commentary at some point over the course of the year. Not because he has any heat -- I think he will actually get something resembling a promotion in WWE. He'll probably remain heavily involved in production and possibly even still do the sit-down interviews and commentary on specials or even remain a PPV guy; but for some reason I can see Tom Phillips ending up on RAW with Byron Saxton and Corey Graves by the end of the year. SmackDown remains Mauro Ranallo, JBL and David Otunga.

Mr. Nerfect 01-11-2017 04:04 AM

Ronda Rousey is on the cover of the WWE 2k18 video game.

Mr. Nerfect 01-11-2017 04:08 AM

After a pretty dreary 2015 and 2016, the WWE actually manages to deliver some sort of "buzz" in 2017. Not on the level of anything resembling a boom, but more on the level of CM Punk's pipe-bomb. I think we'll begin to see some potential "stars" emerge. In a shock to internet fans, more so than Shinsuke Nakamura, Samoa Joe and Kota Ibushi lead that charge, although on different levels. Joe interacts with Cena and looks bad-ass so people believe in him, while Ibushi gets a push as the Cruiserweight Champion in WWE and looks cool as hell as he does practically whatever he wants and takes the belt elsewhere and defends it, basically doing what people hoped CM Punk would do with the WWE Title in 2011.

Mr. Nerfect 01-11-2017 04:12 AM

Cesaro has an in-ring career around the mid-card of WWE that doesn't make him stand out as a future champion or anything, but puts him in a lot of top WWE matches in 2017. It my not seem like an absolutely crazy prediction, but think about how he hasn't really energized this year. I think we'll see him versus Nakamura and him against Zayn and be raving about it.

I think it will be a very good in-ring year for WWE, in ways that actually stand out and you can remember lots of "special" matches. I think it will actually be a very colorful year with lots of varied performances and some high-profile in-ring "shocks" that break up the "everyone gets their shit in" formula and even helps those matches stand out.

Mr. Nerfect 01-11-2017 04:17 AM

A lesson learnt by many in the WWE in 2017: "If you want to be a star in professional wrestling, act like it."

slik 01-11-2017 04:26 AM

Yes.

I predict the WM card will end up being very, very different than what has been reported/rumored (both of which I have posted) on this site. Just a gut feeling that, similar to last year, things will drastically change at the last minute again.

Mr. Nerfect 01-11-2017 04:40 AM

I can see that. Remember how bizarre WrestleMania was last year? I used to score relatively high in Tipsters by taking a "what makes the least sense?" approach. When it comes to predicting a WrestleMania card, it might actually be easier to throw darts at a board or draw names out of a hat.

I don't think most of these are too outlandish but whatever:

• #DIY get called up to the main roster but Ciampa turns on Gargano before year end
• Big E gets drafted to SmackDown and enjoys success in a singles run
• Rich Swann joins The New Day
• Dean Ambrose gets drafted to Raw and The Shield reforms
• Jack Gallagher and The Vaudevillians have a small storyline, either against each other or teaming up as gentlemen
• Kalisto wins Cruiserweight Championship
• Heidi Lovelace or whatever her new name ends up being wins the NXT Women's Championship
• Baron Corbin wins either the WWE Championship or the Universal Championship
• Mojo Rawley goes solo and has either an Intercontinental or United States Championship match on a brand-exclusive PPV
• Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins re-form as a team after Rawley goes solo
• Luke Harper and Erick Rowan are a face tag team by the end of the year
• John Morrison returns to WWE

A British wrestler will win the WWE Championship, thus becoming the first ever British WWE Champion.

Emperor Smeat 01-11-2017 05:11 PM

WWE holds occasional UK showcase matches on RAW to help promote their new UK show some point after the upcoming tournament ends.

Which British wrestler do you think they'd give that honor to?

Cool King 01-12-2017 02:32 PM

Probably whoever wins the UK title tournament.

I can imagine he'll be given this big push with the UK title at first, then once he loses the title in the Summer, he'll begin to chase the WWE Championship, where he'll win it later in the year around November/December time.

A more crazy prediction would be that if it's not the winner of the tournament, then I would say Jack Gallagher would get the honour. Even though I think he's shite, I can see that he is proving to be popular, so I think his popularity will rise throughout the year, with maybe Triple H managing to convince Vince to allow Gallagher to have matches outside of the Cruiserweight division.

This will then lead him to challenging for the WWE Championship where he'll win it, but his reign will probably be brief.

Lock Jaw 01-12-2017 02:48 PM

Renee Young will win the Royal Rumble

Braum Strowman will give a blowjob to Braun Strowman and it will be referred to as the " BRAUNNNNNNNjob ". And WWE will cut to camera shots of 8 year old kids cheering.

Jazzy Foot 01-12-2017 07:37 PM

- John Cena will surpass Ric Flair's record.
-Undertaker will win a version of the WWE title for the final time in his career.
-Goldberg will win the WWE title.
-Nia Jax will win the women's championship and Lana will wrestle more often.
- Mark Henry, Kane, Big Show and Tamina Snuka will all retire.
- Michael Cole (as an earlier poster said) will move to more boardroom/corporate position.
- Bobby Heenan will pass away.
- Jake Roberts will pass away.
-A former Diva may return but not necessarily for a wrestling role, maybe a coaching or even a commentary role (e.g. Lisa Marie Varon, Beth Phoenix).

I'm really surprised Victoria is not back in the WWE to be honest. She still looks great.

Mr. Nerfect 01-12-2017 08:47 PM

I can see the WWE making a play for Mike Goldberg.

Droford 01-12-2017 08:48 PM

Mike Goldberg is the one that reminds me of the father from the Goldberg's..

I imagine him going around calling everyone morons in his underwear and Jericho getting mad for gimmick infringement (stupid idiot)

I would like to see her, Beth Phoenix, Michelle McCool and maybe even Sara Del Ray get back into the ring.

RP 01-13-2017 01:10 PM

Big E will unveil his massive penis in the middle of the ring during RAW and from then on, he will be known as Big D.

Mr. Nerfect 01-13-2017 05:20 PM

This is not a crazy prediction, but I do think we'll see Mike Bennett and Maria in the WWE. Maria says she is planning to finish with wrestling, but I think that WWE paycheck will come through and she will have reasons to stay. The Bellas allegedly blocked her return once, but it feels that there has been more of a "smoothing over" of those sorts of politics recently, what with the returns of Ken Doane and Mickie James.

So yeah, Bennett & Maria to SmackDown sometime this year, I think. I'd actually like to see them form a faction with Kenny, Mikey & Mickie, but that might be getting too specific.

Mr. Nerfect 01-13-2017 05:21 PM

I also predict that by the end of the year, RAW and SmackDown have come together for PPVs in order to make them feel less like extended TV episodes. It won't be a case of "all hands on deck," but they'll do things like have one big feature match from RAW on the SmackDown show or a SmackDown title match on the RAW show to bounce them out a bit.

Evil Vito 01-13-2017 05:56 PM

I don't think they're too concerned with the brand exclusive PPVs feeling like extended TV episodes. To most consumers, two PPVs a month instead of one just adds more value for the $10 subscription.
