So details of the Green Arrow show, "Arrow", is out. Sounds... cool?
|
No it doesn't. It's DC and it isn't Batman or Superman. Nobody cares.
|
That was said about Iron Man four years ago.
|
Batman and Superman were in Marvel?
|
I was saying in terms of C-list heroes.
|
How dare you call Iron Man c-list.
|
Wouldn't have batted an eye before the first movie.
|
As a comic reader and collector since 1993, I can assure you that is totally not true.
|
Iron Man is B-List.
|
yeah before his film, you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who really rated iron man higher than a b at best. sorry rammsteinmartin.
|
Meh, I understand. B-list sounds alright, but C-list? Come on the guy was one of the main Avengers since forever.
Ah whatever, I don't really care anyway lol. The whole point is that this 'Arrow' show will likely suck because it's DC and it isn't Batman and Superman. :p |
hey
watch it. i happen to really like green arrow. my gf and i even cosplayed arrow and canary for a con last year. so shut up. it could be great. |
had to paint on the goatee though because I CAN'T GROW FACIAL HAIR :'(
|
Hawkeye > Green Arrow.
It's on now. :foc: |
Green Arrow > Hawkeye
But either way, I don't really care for either of them. |

Love both.
It depends who is writing each character. Both can be made boring as fuck. |
So, a series of Watchmen Prequel comics are now confirmed.

Well, that pretty much tears it. I'm done with DC.

Here's a quote from Straczynski on the subject of Alan Moore's complaints about these prequels being made: "I get it. But by the same token, Alan has spent most of the last decade writing some very, very good stories about characters created by other writers, including Alice (from Wonderland), Dorothy (from Oz), Wendy (from Peter Pan), as well as Captain Nemo, the Invisible Man, Jekyll and Hyde and Professor Moriarty. I think one loses a little of the moral high ground to say, "I can write characters created by Jules Verne, HG Wells, Robert Louis Stevenson, Arthur Conan Doyle and Frank Baum, but it's wrong for anyone else to write my characters."
|
Yeah, but none of those authors were around to say 'no.' So JMS is full of shit.
Plus, there's a big difference between doing an adaptation and just saying "Hey, we're taking your story and slapping a bunch of extra bullshit onto it, and there's nothing you can do about it. So nyah." |
so when he dies it's fair game? double standards.
|
Well when he dies, he can't make a living off of his work anymore, so yeah, I'd say it would be fair game at that point.
|
he cant make a living off watchmen now, he doesnt own it.
|
Okay, you're right in that aspect. DC owns the rights and can technically do whatever they want with it, no matter how much of a shameless and artistically bankrupt cash-grab it may be.
However, it's still a massive slap in the face to exploit the guy's work against his will. And yes, if all of the writers that Moore pulled from were around to say 'no' when he pulled from them and he did it anyway, I'd be calling him just as much of an asshole as I'm calling JMS. Though at least Moore had the decency to do an alternate interpretation of their works. |

Oh, the prequels will almost definitely suck, I agree with you there.
Well....the ones by Azzarello might be good, but it still doesn't change the fact that none of them need to be made. |
I don't really think this makes Moore a hypocrite. The important thing, as NM said,is that moore's work was adaptations, while DC is fucking with the original work.
That is a huge difference, in my opinion. |
Technically they are doing nothing to the original work. You can read the original work and still enjoy it all you want.
|
You know what I mean, you daft poofter.
|
Meh. If anything, it is kudos for DC for holding out as long as they did. They've been trying for years and years to get Moore on board for something, if not as writer, then as "producer" or "overseer" or whatever. So they have finally given up and are now doing this before memory of the movie goes away entirely.

Smallville Season 11 Comic:
http://wb.cdn.warnerbros.com/dcublog...2-704x1024.jpg Essentially a new Superman series in the Smallville continuity. Same deal as the Buffy comics. |
Just watched Justice League: Doom. It was decent. I didn't follow any of the news about it since it was announced, so I was hoping for a more faithful adaptation of Tower of Babel.
As it is... SPOILER: show |
Also, just realized that Smallville Superman is not wearing the underpants outside of his uniform. I AM BLINDED BY RAGE.

Gotta see it.

Man, I've been reading some of the new 52 series and I'm pretty confused, but still blown away. Love what I've been reading so far but some of the timelines are really confusing. Who's timelines are included and who's aren't. Some are completely changed but others like Barbara Gordon are pretty much continuing into the same timeline, just some things have changed (a "miracle" happened and now she isn't paralyzed.
Wish I had a chart or something to explain. Sheesh. |
Give up on a coherent explanation and enjoy it for what it is, I say.
