Rate the Game: Week 60
And we're back, ladies and gentlemen! Who'd have thought we'd make it this far? I didn't, especially since I had only intended for there to be fifty. I also had intended for this to have been finished years ago but things don't always go the way you hope. Sometimes they're better! Like right now as I get to share more with all of you who dare join me on this endeavor. It's time for the sixtieth game to get judged but we've got Borderlands from last week to take care of in regards to where it goes on the leaderboard. It had some love but did it get enough to shoot its way into the top of the charts? Let's see....

See what I did there? It ends up with an average 3.22. Nothing to feel too much shame about. How will the sixtieth game fare in comparison? Let's see what we're tackling this week!
via GIPHY
Well, lookee here, we've got one of the first Xbox 360 titles on our hands as the game to rate this week is Sega's Condemned: Criminal Origins, the crime drama/psychological horror/FPS??? that explored the city of Metro and the investigation undertaken by FBI agent Ethan Thomas. So how does this game fare with you all? Is it a gem or a lump of coal in the realm of gaming? Did it stick with you? Rate and discuss and vote and all of that good stuff that makes you, well, you. Until next week... |
Extremely underrated game, one of my fav games of the past, what 10 years. The gameplay is just incredibly fun and I liked the storyline and hallucination elements, but mostly, just how fun the gameplay was which is the most important thing in a game.
Only thing I didn't like is that I felt it was too short and levels didn't have a lot of variety. |
Really torn on this one. It was pretty neat at the time but a lot of it is pretty forgettable. The stand outs are stuff like the mannequins in the shopping center or the faces on the people infected by the Hate. I liked the idea of a serial killer going after other serial killers using their MO and doing investigative stuff but it's not really something that's stuck with me after all these years. I'd do another playthrough if I had a copy to give it a thorough lookover with fresh eyes. I remember walking away from the first hours of playing it with the feel of it being a first-person Silent Hill, which would legit rock my fucking world if such a thing actually existed. I'm going to have to ponder it over for a bit before slapping a rating on it.

never played it.

...I can't remember playing this game. I must have at some point though because I own Condemned 2....although I don't remember that game either. *shrugs*
|
I remember using the Condemned 2 case to roll joints on for years, that's the extent of my memory of these games. Based on that alone I will score the prequel a 3.
|
not only have i not played it i haven't heard of it

At the very least, read up on it, see if it would have tickled your fancy.

I feel like the haven't played it option in the polls should be more like N/A, just because "0" kinda has a harsh looking connotation to it, IMHO.
|
i dont think he tallys the 0s
|
I don't but since that's the case, switching it to N/A or just removing the zero altogether would make sense.
|
as long as "havent played it" is an option and isnt counted its all semantics

Read that Warner Bros. wanted to do a film adaptation of this game. You'd think it wouldn't be so hard considering it's essentially a crime drama and there a shit ton of movies in that genre.
|
Oof, finally gave my rating in the poll and saw the amount of people who hadn't played this. I guess I overestimated when I picked it for the pool. :o Hopefully the next game has more appeal.
