What is the first game you beat without cheats?

Honestly can't remember, used Game Genie a lot, hopefully your answers remind me.

Destor 06-08-2017 10:55 AM

Mario

drave 06-08-2017 10:56 AM

Trojan

Lock Jaw 06-08-2017 11:00 AM

I don't remember for sure, but there is a high probability of it being a Mario game. Possibly Mario 3.

Big Vic 06-08-2017 11:05 AM

Might have been Mario 3 for me, I remember beating it one time but I probably used Game Genie. Probably used Game Genie for the MegaMan games too. I was good at Kirby adventure but wasn't fast enough to be the star orb.

I beat Kirbys DreamLand (GB) which was quite easy.

It was probably Hocus Pocus (episode 1) for the PC honestly.

Big Vic 06-08-2017 11:12 AM

Oh I do remember beating Doom on easy mode possibly before that.

Sixx 06-08-2017 11:15 AM

Yeah, Doom I think. But shit, I even remember the cheat codes for that to this day so quite possible I only beat it with cheats.

Duke Nukem 3D is the first one I totally remember beating clean.

Emperor Smeat 06-08-2017 04:12 PM

Either Turok or Star Fox 64.

Beat Legend of Zelda a lot earlier but that game didn't have any cheats.

Ultra Mantis 06-08-2017 06:18 PM

Sonic the Hedgehog I guess.

Ruien 06-08-2017 10:16 PM

I dunno. I wasn't a punk who used a game genie. Probably a Mario or Mega man game.

Fignuts 06-11-2017 01:24 AM

Donkey Kong

Sixx 06-11-2017 10:14 AM

Hm, damn, think I'm forgetting Commodore 64 games, but I really don't remember a single one.

Ruien 06-11-2017 11:26 AM

The first one I remember was the SNES Mario. I know I beat some NES games too though.

DAMN iNATOR 06-11-2017 07:40 PM

Honestly, no idea, and it'd be fruitless of me to even try to remember. Maybe Grand Theft Auto III, but that's a friggin' shot in the dark.

Fignuts 06-12-2017 04:21 AM

I do remember waking my parents up at 7 am on the weekend to inform them I had just beaten Flash Man.

They weren't impressed.

How old are you?

road doggy dogg 06-12-2017 09:29 AM

Definitely Super Mario Bros. The day after beating it my dad bought us SMB3. Good guy dad.

road doggy dogg 06-12-2017 09:30 AM

Looking back on it now, SMB3 was released like three years after SMB1. Took me 3 damn years to beat a game I can beat in under 10 minutes now. I was a terrible gamer as a child. (joking of course, I was born in '85 so lol)

Big Vic 06-12-2017 09:41 AM

don't feel bad, I still haven't beaten SMB1

road doggy dogg 06-12-2017 09:42 AM

It's pretty easy now if you use the warp pipes. Playing through each level is actually somewhat of a challenge still.

Emperor Smeat 06-12-2017 06:49 PM

Think the farthest I ever got in SMB 1 was 8-2 because I could never time a certain jump correctly or kept running out of time.

Savio 06-12-2017 06:53 PM

I could never beat MegaMan 6 with or without cheat because of a very difficult jump on PlantMans stage.

Outsider 06-14-2017 06:01 PM

Streets of Rage

A.J.K 06-14-2017 06:53 PM

Never really used cheats at all, i like to play video games as they are intended to be played.

36 but I didn't have the benefit of having an NES or Genesis or SNES or PS1.

First console was an N64...perhaps it was something on that, but as I stated before, I honestly haven't a clue.

i'm just a young'n 20 , but i never really play new stuff. I look for retro games. I'd honestly rather play a game that has crappy graphics over today's games.

Graphics aren't my worry, if the game has a good story and is fun to play, that's all that matters to me.

Hey, you can never have too much WWF No Mercy, my friend. WWF WrestleMania 2000 also very good.

Tom Guycott 06-16-2017 12:14 AM

Raiders of the Lost Ark (2600). I was 3 or 4; it was a big deal to me, especially since it wasn't a "progress forever until it gets prohibitively fast" games that most were back then: it actually ended.

played both, also WCW/NWO Revenge

Sixx 06-18-2017 02:47 PM

Man, Revenge was awesome. I used to go that store with my buddy and play it all day long.

Then I got my own N64 along with Revenge and WM 2k, sadly No Mercy was never released in Europe, so I only played it using an emulator and it just wasn't the same.

You sure? WP says it released in Europe on December 15, 2000. Maybe it didn't release in Poland in particular for some reason?

JimmyMess 06-21-2017 12:35 PM

mario 3... or super mario world.... i can't remember.

does using the whistles count as cheating in mario 3? or just finding out you can slide behind the white walls

Curtis 06-26-2017 11:34 PM

I believe it was Quake 2 singleplayer.

alvarado52 06-27-2017 04:30 AM

earlejones 08-01-2017 03:06 AM

WrestleRacer91 04-24-2019 02:22 PM

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island

To this day this game brings back good memories. #Classic

Splaya 04-25-2019 01:17 PM

Mega Man 3. Still have chills when you had to face Final bosses from Mega Man 2 in that game

Helmsphere 04-26-2019 03:42 PM

Resident Evil on the psx

My Final Heaven 04-30-2019 10:57 AM

Metroid 2: Return of Samus
Remains the only game I've ever had to buy twice; some dirty bastard "lost" it when I loaned it to him in the 6th grade. He had the nerve to replace it with a copy of Yoshi :fu:

Luigi 05-30-2019 03:51 PM

Super Mario Brothers I. After I ended the game, I gave a big hug to my dog.
