Thor: Ragnorak (2017)

Marvel.com, Deadline.com, Hollywood Reporter have all announced the following cast members as villains in the film. The Hulk will also appear in the film.

  • Cate Blanchett as Hela
  • Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie
  • Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster
  • Karl Urban as Skurge

slik 05-20-2016 04:16 PM

"Odin...finds a way"

Shadow 05-20-2016 04:33 PM

Jeff Goldblum as...the Grandmaster? We got us some Elders of the Universe up in here!

Kalyx triaD 05-20-2016 07:21 PM

Hot damn at that cast.

Fignuts 05-20-2016 07:26 PM

This is looking awesome. I've been waiting for Hela since the first movie, and Cate Blanchett is an absolutely fantasic choice.

Skurge's last stand is one of the most memorable moments in the history of Thor comics, and I fully expect them to do it here.

Thor is my favorite comic series, and I've been a little disappointed that his movies haven't been on the same level as other marbel films. They've been fun, don't get me wrong, but I'm really hoping that this is Thor's winter soldier.

Kalyx triaD 05-21-2016 02:37 AM

They released concept art of Hela and that is looking like Hela.

Sixx 05-21-2016 06:33 AM

Weird casting for Valkyrie, but guess I'll just wait and see before I start moaning.

Kalyx triaD 05-21-2016 12:04 PM

Oh we know why you think it's weird...

Destor 05-21-2016 01:10 PM

My only guess is Valkyrie will be Heimdall's sister now instead of Sif. Which im fine with. Heimdall and Sif being different colors has bothered the hell out of me so im hopeful this will give me closure.

Shadow 05-21-2016 04:19 PM

Natalie Portman reportedly will not be back for this installment. Cause you know, she can't be seen as a superhero actress. Solution, recast with Keira Knightly. Nobody will know the difference.

I would much rather them focus on sif and enchantress love angles than jane foster and portman is legit my favorite actress

Oh, shut the fuck up.

Asgardians shoudln't be black.

Fignuts 05-21-2016 07:31 PM

If Portman is out, they should just write off the character, and focus more on asgard itself.

Kalyx triaD 05-23-2016 11:37 AM

Space people can be black. There's chicken in space. I assume.

I agree, not to many black people in Norse mythology, but then again it's mythological.

Ruien 05-23-2016 06:57 PM

Why do people care so much of the color of someone's skin? It's fucking fictional. It's not like they have a black guy playing George Washington or some Asian as Martin Luther King Jr.

Ruien 05-23-2016 06:58 PM

Thor could turn into a female and it shouldn't be a big deal at all.

Because his sister was already cast... as white

Ruien 05-23-2016 09:26 PM

It's fictional. And is a white and black family that odd for anyone still?

It is for Nordic Gods yeah

99% of scenrios, totally normal..this one? Super fucking weird.

Reavant 05-24-2016 09:06 AM

Seeing as they are Asgaurdian, you could make the argument that races work differently there.... Sif could still be Heimdals biological sister.

Are they Norse gods? Or are they worshiped as gods by the Norse? If it's the latter it's not surprising that the Norse would represent them reflected in their own image, much like Jesus as a blue-eyed white boy.

Theyve portrayed the races of other relms pretty consistently in the past, hence Hogan is asian (looking.)

Its a pretty big contradiction and i hope they remedy it by simply having Valk be his sister.

Kalyx triaD 05-24-2016 10:54 PM

Or they can never bring it up ala Charles and Juggy.

Thats the kind of shit i would expect from fox

Fignuts 05-25-2016 01:35 AM

Sif and Heimdall being related isn't even close to being as important as charles and jugg's relationship.

When it comes to main characters, I prefer them to be accurate to the source. I don't mind so much with supporting characters.

Reavant 05-25-2016 08:17 AM

yea i didnt even know they were related

I dknt disagree about juggs and chuck EXCEPT marvel =/= fox so it's moot.

And sif is very much an integral character once you get into strictly asgard stories.

Hulk won't be the only one with a new look. Allegedly, Thor's long locks won't be making an appearance, and the Asgardian will rock a shaved head instead.

Hahaha, bald Thor, the hell?

Kalyx triaD 06-01-2016 06:15 PM

Probably more buzzcut than bald, which is fine.

Sixx 06-01-2016 07:47 PM

It's not.

It's the motherfucking Thor aka Goldilocks.

Fignuts 06-02-2016 02:16 AM

Yeah, fuck that.

Disturbed316 06-02-2016 03:41 AM

Thor cutting hair is like Black Bolt joining the Opera

Sixx 08-20-2016 01:02 PM

i can't believe we're having this conversation again

Fignuts 08-20-2016 01:18 PM

Thor without hair, is like batman without a cape.

Lock Jaw 08-20-2016 01:31 PM

Batman has had some badass moments without a cape

All depends on the story here. If Thor just cuts his hair "just because", it is bad...... but if his hair is cut against his will because he is stuck on a gladiatorial planet fighting The Hulk, then I will accept it....

see, batman had some moments without a cape. thor never had a buzzcut. long hair is one of his trademarks. this is really a terrible idea.

Yeah, I mean that's fine.

But as a hardcore thor fan, it's my job to overeact and complain without even knowing the context of the decision.

I thought I remembered some Thor or other having short hair for awhile.... (Ultimate Thor maybe? I dunno, I never read it)

Sixx 08-20-2016 02:10 PM

nah, ultimate thor sometimes had a ponytail.

Fignuts 08-20-2016 02:13 PM

Ultimate thor had his hair burned off in ultimates 2, but it fit the whole downfall adpect of the story. He was meant to look pathetic, and humiliated.

Rammsteinmad 08-20-2016 02:15 PM

Come to think of it, I wouldn't mind seeing Thor with short in the comics. I did a quick google search and couldn't find anything to show it's happened before, would be a refreshing little change, and it's hair, for Christ's sake it's not exactly a permanent change. I think it'd look pretty badass and I could imagine him "returning" or some nonsense in the middle of a huge end-of-the-world battle and have Wasp or someone be like "hey, I like the new look" or something.

It's just hair fellas. Sounds like it could be used to add another layer to his character. I like the idea.

Lock Jaw 08-20-2016 02:48 PM

I don't think he was claiming it was real. He just said he couldn't find anything from the comics, but wouldn't mind seeing it. He then posted some fan art of what Thor with short hair could look like.

Rammsteinmad 08-20-2016 02:51 PM

Yeah, LJ's spot on. I probably should have mentioned that. :y:

Lock Jaw 08-20-2016 02:56 PM

Kalyx triaD 08-20-2016 11:39 PM

I don't mind.

Nicky Fives 08-24-2016 10:37 AM

use it as a storyline.... bad guy chops off his hair to emasculate him, Thor vows revenge... Seems very basic.

Kalyx triaD 08-24-2016 03:17 PM

There's a few set pics showing Thor, Loki, and Odin
SPOILER: show
on earth dressed as normal people.

I thought he was excited because he thought Hulk would team up with him? Hence the dismay when Hulk kept coming?

I dunno. I shouldn't overthink a two-minute teaser.

But you're wrong. :p

And his reaction was still funny and not what you'd expect. Probably play out nothing like that in the actual film though.

XL 04-10-2017 02:03 PM

Nah. Definitely a "thank god, I know this guy, there won't be any fighting here". I wouldn't be surprised if the "I know him from work" line isn't in the finished movie though.

It looks like they might have made a legitimately good Thor film (as in one that sits amongst the most popular MCU movies rather than soundly a step behind the top picks).

Simple Fan 04-10-2017 02:45 PM

Looks good. Thor vs Hulk should be fun.

RP 04-10-2017 03:27 PM

Is Mark Ruffalo going to be in this? I just hope there is some storytelling about how Hulk got to space in the first place. I imagine they would have to do this considering the Planet Hulk story arc was launched from the Civil War.

He's last seen in the quinjet. I assumed he flew it into space figuring he was too dangerous to be around, maybe hit a black hole or something and poof, he's in outer space.
