Luke Cage - Netflix Original Series

Finished ep1
Definitely hooked

Sixx 09-30-2016 07:55 AM

wait, what? it's out?

slik 09-30-2016 08:12 AM

^ just came out today. I might watch the 1st or 2nd episode tonight. For some reason I have been looking more forward to this more than DareDevil or Jessica Jones.

Sixx 09-30-2016 09:01 AM

no netflix in poland yet, waiting for torrents

Lock Jaw 10-01-2016 12:06 AM

Finished episode 1... was kind of underwhelmed, but it picked up in the end quarter of the episode.....

Feel like I constantly want Cottonmouth to be Michael Kenneth Williams, but then he never is, and I am disappointed......... I'm sure I will get past it, maybe.......

Blonde Moment 10-01-2016 04:03 AM

Good story being told.

Sixx 10-02-2016 03:55 AM

5 episodes in, marvel delivers as usual.

mike colter is great.

but misty knight kinda sucks in this show. weird actress, seems like she's high all the time.

RP 10-03-2016 11:14 AM

Havent started it yet, but expecting it to be like Jessica Jones in that it starts a bit slow and picks up.

I agree... I'm loving everything except her really. She's very unnatural... like you can tell she's trying to remember what the next line is.

Destor 10-05-2016 12:21 PM

I loved Misty Knight... I hope Colleen WIng is in Iron Fist and we get a proper Heros for Hire later.

mitchables 10-06-2016 08:39 AM

the self-defence classes flyer that claire takes a phone number from was for colleen wing; she's in iron fist.

Heisenberg 10-06-2016 11:53 AM

The cursing and authentic feel to the show really helps it out. Censoring kills a lot of things in this realm. Feels like Marvel can have their Disney audience and also feed us too.

Kalyx triaD 10-23-2016 12:25 AM

Misty Knight fine ass.

Kalyx triaD 10-26-2016 12:30 AM

Lock Jaw 10-26-2016 12:31 AM

Still haven't finished this...... Other Marvel series I consumed in like 2 days......

Rammsteinmad 10-26-2016 10:28 AM

I haven't even got round to watching this yet. Haven't had time, and won't do until around mid-November. Then it's this, Agents of SHIELD and Game of Thrones season 6. :y:

Ruien 11-06-2016 06:53 PM

Enjoyed this show. Was probably the worst from the other Marvel/Netflix series but still enjoyable. Besides for Shades, there wasn't a character I really got into.

Lock Jaw 03-15-2017 10:41 PM

Finally finished this in anticipation of Iron Fist coming out......

Feel like the show got a whole lot better after Diamondback showed up, but even then there were one or two episodes that seemed to drag on.....

Overall I like the "tone" and the "hero of the people" thing it was doing...... just feel like it was all too drawn out..... and that if it was all condensed, it would have been a lot better.....

Definitely the bottom of the current three shows...... we'll see how Iron Fist does.....

Luke Cage - Netflix Original Series

... because I called myself looking through the backlog, and see a thread for every other MCU Netflix show, and TWO threads for Runaways, but nothing here? If I'm blind, just roll this in.

Anyway, I have one ep left for season 2. I have just had a busy week, and no opportunity to binge the show like I wanted to.

I must say:

- Bravo on the episode titles being Pete Rock joints this season much like all of season 1 being named after Gang Starr songs.

- Speaking of music, the scoring is incredible this season, with a lot of narration being overlaid with music choice, and quite a bit of syncing lyrics with what is happening.

- I dig Bushmaster. He's on par with Killmonger to me... but what the hell is with all of Luke's adversaries being named after snakes? What is this, Kill Bill vol 3?

- Prepare; Danny makes a temporary appearance. However, since Luke Cage is infinitely more well written, he is actually watchable and kinda likable, and doesn't once enter his whole speil of introducing who he is, what he is sworn to do, and it being his destiny. Good first step in rehabbing that douche.

Lock Jaw 06-25-2018 11:56 PM

Unlike most, I didn't really like the first season, so I hope this is better. I'll watch it eventually.... need to catch up on some other shows first.

Sixx 06-26-2018 12:04 AM

I had no idea this was already out.

Guess I know what I'm doing tonight, with all that rain and wind outside.

I loved the first season. I wanted to binge this the DAY it hit, but helping a friend move a few states away in a huge UHAUL and shit weather takes a toll. I'm still sore.

Anyway, it wasn't going to get the acclaim that Jessica Jones did (mostly from the abuse allegory that everyone slurped all over), but it should have gotten more attention than it did, I feel.

And we can all agree it didn't totally shit the bed like Iron Fist, which was a chore to watch but was kind-of a prereq for Defenders.

Lock Jaw 06-26-2018 12:57 AM

Seems to me like it got a whole lot of attention.

Also, I can't agree to your statement. I liked Iron Fist. Luke Cage was the one that was kind of a chore to get through for me.

LOCK JAW DOESN'T CARE ABOUT BLACK PEOPLE

Lock Jaw 06-26-2018 01:12 AM

I love the show Atlanta, though.....

Tom Guycott 06-26-2018 01:12 AM

They made Danny a total tool, and his action scenes weren't even on par with anything Daredevil did, and this guy is supposed to be #1 asskicker.

Seemed like it was just lazy writing; that they just phoned it in because there was an invincible "we can do no wrong" mindset rolling in from the relative success of the other three shows. The result is that Danny Rand became a total weiner in his own goddamn show. Hell, I was more excited to see Gao than him. Again, in his own show. A generous dose of Claire and Colleen got me through.

S2 ended kinda awkwardly but this will be an interesting status quo.

As for the ending, it didn't feel so much awkward to me as it did... abrupt. Like someone thought the season was a couple episodes longer than 13, and had to wrap up what they were setting up in a hurry in the last two or three in an "oh shit" moment of botched logistics.

Destor 07-03-2018 08:37 PM

Oddly enough i cant merge posts in this forum. My mod authority is inconsistent across the board. Ill see if i cant get it merged.

Only on ep 210. Loving this is ep right now. HEROES FOR HIRE. So into this

ClockShot 10-20-2018 06:53 AM

Consider this cancelled.

Lock Jaw 10-20-2018 08:23 AM

Only just finally started to watch the second season. Only 4 episodes in. So far better than the first, I think. Minus the villain who I have a hard time understanding.

Destor 10-20-2018 09:42 AM

Maybe theyre gonna do heroes for hire

Destor 10-20-2018 09:47 AM

On the upcoming disney app that is

RP 10-23-2018 05:37 PM

I dont mind this or Iron Fist being canceled. Neither were that good. Jessica Jones is on the fringe too. Season 2 of Jessica Jones was terrible. Season 1 was exceptional. They need to bring back David Tennant as Killgrave, or write a much better story.

DareDevil and Punisher are completely safe for sure. This is a clear case of Netflix over extending themselves and striking out a few times. Reign it in and focus on your main 3. Maybe they can mix in another season of Defenders so Luke and Iron fist are not totally phased out.

Kalyx triaD 10-23-2018 06:05 PM

Agreed.

Damian Rey 2.0 10-25-2018 10:13 PM

Jessica Jones S2 started out pretty good then devolved. The main story was a drag. I wouldn't be sad to see it get axed.

Lock Jaw 10-29-2018 06:25 PM

Just finished Season 2. Leaps and bounds better than season 1, which I did not like. I actually really enjoyed this season, and am now "sad" that there will be no continuation of the story.

Ruien 10-31-2018 10:16 PM

I loved Iron Fist :(

Sixx 12-07-2018 02:22 AM

Question about episode 12.

After it was clear noone else would die when Bushmaster got into Maria's lair - why in the world did Cage go there to stop him? I mean, they already kinda decided she should die so why bother? No innocents died sooo why?
