Ten years from now, Jose Canseco saved baseball or ruined baseball?
As a sports fan, I find this to be a very difficuly question for myself to answer. On one hand, Canseco speaking up and being heard the most really opened some eyes to baseball. If infact they werent already opened. I mean its hard for me to actually believe baseball hire ups had no clue whatsoever that steroids were ( and probably still are ) a major factor in baseballs resurgence after the strike. Possibly a major factor before the strike shortened season. Though others probably spoke up about the matter, Cansecos book and stories were the gasoline to the fire. His statements are what set this thing on fire. Then the McGuire testamony was heard on live television and BAM! As soon as he was done, as soon as we saw what we ( baseball fans ) saw. We knew anyone was a suspect and Barry Bonds was suspect number 1. Now with Barry Bonds indictment in the works and almost a sure thing. My question tonight while i was sitting here became this. 10 years from now will i being telling my kids that thanks to Jose Canseco, the sport of Baseball is as pure is ever? As much as i dont like Jose Canseco, theres a serious chance that i will be.
What do you think? |
Sorry I don't think you'll be having kids
I'll be home for Christmas this year son.

[Me in 10 years to my kids] Jose Canseco saved baseball*
*he was also a massive turd faced, self-centred roid freak with no shame or dignity [/Me in 10 years] |
Remember when he bounced that ball off his head and into the stands for a HR?
I will be watching him play the Chico Outlaws
as much as I hate to say it... i'm going with "saved".
Neither. Firstly, he didn't bring steroids into the game. They were already there. Secondly, he's just a guy trying to stay in the spotlight. The US congress was looking for an easy job (instead of an unpopular war)
Neither, of course the steroids thing was going to be revealed eventually. It´s not like nobody would´ve found out if Juiced was never written.
Canseco didn't bring the whole issue to light, he just sensationalised it by mentioning all the names and details that he did, nobody took the issue seriously back when the Big Mac allegations were going around (the MLB still doesn't as far as i'm concerned) but now it seems people actually want something to be done, whether or not the MLB will get tough or not remains to be seen, i think personally they need to crack down big time, a years ban atleast for steroid or any other kind of growth aid, then maybe a lifetime ban afterwards. Back when Adrian Mutu got caught with coke up his nose Chelsea fuckin dropped him! In the states it seems like any excuse is good enough to get a guy off.

I heard on a sports talk show that Canseco is pitching in some minor league All Star game. Got himself a knuckleball it seems. How fitting, knucklehead with a knuckleball.

isn't he making a movie that is going to reveall everything? Would be awesome if it was like all home video shit and we get scenes like Canseco, Caminiti and Little Davie Eckstein shotting up the juice in Jose's gym

I love how steroids is only an issue now when people were telling you all years ago about it and you refused to believe it.
Who exactly are you talking to?
Jose won their homerun hitting contest, I heard.
I didnt care much about baseball years ago :(

Canseco has so many stupid anecdotes attached to him. |
... ruined it.
:shifty: |
Saved it. Not saying he did it for any reason then publicity but it had a good aftermath.
