It was a pretty good game UK won 75-73. Didn't really like the final play Louisville drew up as they went for the win and didn't give enough time for a miss. Still feel that Louisville could have played better and UK was shooting 3s from way deep and making them. Were shooting 29% feom 3 and shot over 50% in the game.

Great game Louisville won 27-21. Nashville's pretty cool to. $9 beer kind of ridiculous, good thing I got 2 16 oz. Bud lights and half pint of Hennessey.

Clemson has a tough row to hoe. Alabama made Michigan St look like chumps. But Clemson has a solid pair of runners. It comes down to who can impose their will on their opponent. Scouts should be keeping their eye on the lines.

The decision to hold both semi-finals games for football on New Year's Eve ended up backfiring. That and both games being blowouts.

Compared to last year both games were down by around 30+% for ratings.

Tennessee down 13-3 to Appalachian State with 2:00 left in the first half. Louisville up 56-0 on Charlotte.

Louisville's Lamar Jackson is a bad man. Dude had 610 total yards and 6 TD last night against Syracuse. Actually hurdled a guy before scoring one of the TDs.

Simple Fan 09-10-2016 01:43 PM

Has 13 total TDs through 2 games, more than any other FBS team as a whole.. Didn't even play the second half of the first game.

Not really to many good games today. Tennessee and Virginia Tech will be play inside Bristol Motor Speedway and is expected to break attendance records with over 150,000 tonight at 8:00 PM EST.

Can UConn just foldup the football program now?

Team's down 4 with 17 seconds to go and the coach tried to call a timeout on 2nd and goal............they had none left.

Simple Fan 09-10-2016 10:34 PM

156,990 is the official attendance for the Battle at Bristol which is a record. Tennessee up 24-14 on Virginia Tech with 11:29 Togo in the 3rd quarter.

Thought UConn would get better with Louisville leaving the AAC but I suppose Houston pretty much took over where the left off. Would really like to see UConn move to either the ACC or Big 10. Would like to see Cincinnati in the ACC as well but feel like the Big 12 will snatch them up.

ClockShot 09-12-2016 08:10 PM

Chatter going around is that UConn is supposed to make a pitch to the Big 10.

Simple Fan 09-13-2016 02:37 PM

Be good for them in basketball. Football not so much but they do seem like they would fit the Big 10. Would put the Big 10 at 15 schools and would probably look to add another to get to 16. ACC has 15 but Notre Dame isn't full time in football.

Big 12 probably try to make a move first. Houston and Cincinnati would put them back to 12 and Cincinnati would put a school a bit closer to West Viginia. Also talk of USF, UCF, and BYU.

Big game tomorrow, Florida State @ Louisville. Going to be tough but when you got Lamar Jackson you got a chance.

Simple Fan 09-17-2016 01:46 PM

Louisville up 35-10 at the half. Jackson back at it, already has 3 rushing TDs and a passing TD. 17 total TDs in 2 and half games.

Simple Fan 09-17-2016 04:03 PM

Louisville won 63-20 expected a much closeer game. Was 63-10 before the started left the game. Jackson has to be the Hiesman favorite right now.

Lot of Sooners left laying on the field for trainers' examination tonight.

As for that Louisville/FSU game: Seminoles suck. Not saying that as a hater, but someone who wonders how they keep getting ranked so high and the team they field really hasn't been top ten for years.

You'd think they were in the SEC.

Tom Guycott 09-18-2016 12:38 AM

Also forgot Coach Stoops was a local boy.

Tom Guycott 09-23-2016 12:51 AM

I got a response about FSU (assuming that's who you meant- you left no context)

They got a lot of flukey wins and backdoor victories: they didn't really play like a team that just kept getting magically ranked #1 or #2. And the first year of the playoff system, had it not been in place, they would have automatically gone to get dismantled by Alabama for the National title instead of getting dismantled by Oregon for the right to play an Ohio State team who handed Alabama their ass.

Even as much as I hate the "SEC is better than everybody in perpetuity" argument people make, at least 'Bama played like a top contender consistently. The Seminoles didn't. Being upvoted isn't the same as being good. Being Kings of the ACC is akin to being the whatever-est guy in the room. Ask Boise State how many potential championships they were snubbed out of because they "didn't play anyone" to end up ranked above #5, but FSU can continue to fail their way upwards doing precisely that.

Simple Fan 09-24-2016 08:10 PM

Didn't expect Tennessee to come back against Florida. Fliped it and was watching Duke beat Notre Same. Fliped it back after it was over and Tennessee had erased a 21 pt deficit in one quarter.

Only dropped to 7 with a fairly easy schedule. Have a big matchup with Houston at the 2nd to last game of the year which should be good. Kentucky sucks but I imagine they will give us a good game. I feel like the ACC could get 2teams in though, as I think the Big 12 and PAC 12 will all end up beating one anothe up.

Simple Fan 10-05-2016 12:01 PM

If Jackson wins the Hiesman and they only have the one loss to Clemson who goes undefeated I feel like Louisville could get in. SEC will probably be Alabama one loss or not. Big 10 either Ohio State or Michigan I'd say who ever win their game. PAC 12 isn't as strong this year and I don't think Washington will win out. Big 12 is weak this year as well and I feel they will beat each other up and not have a playoff team. Leaves Houston who if they do beat Louisville and go undefeated should make it in from the American. Never know what's going to happen though and that's what great about college football and this playoff now.

poopfromweiner dude 10-07-2016 11:49 AM

How is Louisville going to get in dude,,

It'll take 2 bad losses for them to jump Clemson, the SEC champ will always get in, Ohio st or Michigan is a lock...

1 spot left for Louisville, Big 12 or Pac 12 team or more likely the next best SEC team

It's possible but you're going to need a lot of legit contenders to have 2 losses. A win vs Houston won't look as good comparatively to some of these notorious programs who play real schedules

poopfromweiner dude 10-07-2016 11:51 AM

And if OSU and Michigan run the table the loser of that game will still be ranked ahead of Louisville. #7 the first week of October is cool, but they're only going to be getting passed by more quality 1 lossers

Simple Fan 10-07-2016 12:36 PM

Like I said I don't think the PAC 12 or Big 12 will get a team in the playoff. Michigan and Ohio State could both get in but I don't see it and I feel one will lose 2 games. I think the Houston game will be huge. Especially if Houston is still undefeated. I feel like a loss to Clemson(a close one at that) is not all that bad of a loss. Clemson should run the table and be 1 or 2 by the end of the season. Really feel like the ACC gets two teams in and Louisville not playing championship week could be a blessing . Also if Jackson wins the Hiesman and Louisville's only loss it's undefeated Clemson they have to put Louisville in the playoff. This is all just speculation as anything can happen with a lot of season left.

I expected to drop a lot more than 7 and felt real optimistic when I seen the ranking. Feel like Louisville will be the best one loss team if they win out as well. A loss to Clemson is better than say a Washington losing to any PAC 12 team. One loss Michigan or Ohio State could beat them out but I don't think Michigan is going to be undefeated by the time the play Ohio State. Tennessee could surprise and be in it as well. Also I have no doubt that if Houston beats Louisville and is undefeated they will get a spot.

Simple Fan 10-08-2016 05:42 PM

Notre Dame vs NC State was a mess wih the hurricane. Pouring down in the Viginia Teh/North Carolina game as well but not as bad. Houston losing right now to Navy. Tennessee losing to Texas A&M.

Simple Fan 10-08-2016 08:16 PM

Damn Tennessee with another comeback. Were down by like 2 touchdowns and I stopped watching to watch Central Intelligence and now its in 2nd OT tied at 38.

Simple Fan 10-08-2016 08:24 PM

They lost that one though. Texas A&M is 6-0

Tom Guycott 11-26-2016 04:54 PM

The Game was closer than it should have been. Lots of Buckeye mistakes and lots of not capitalizing on Xichigan mistakes. Defense uncharacteristically looked like a freakin' sieve. And don't get me started on Durbin's kicking. Win shouldn't have been so ugly.

Also, here is where I become a fair weather Sparty fan. Need them to kick the shit out of Penn State today.

Frank Drebin 11-27-2016 02:52 AM

Now, I hate the living shit out of Penn State for that whole....ya know....thing....but just playing devils advocate here, OSU thinks they're going to the playoffs but they aren't even playing in their conference title game?? With them being #2 prior to this week, seems like it's a lock, right?

Clerk 11-27-2016 02:58 AM

PSU winning it all baby suck my big Irish balls baby!!

Tom Guycott 12-05-2016 11:59 PM

I'm being the worst fan this year, but with a team that has constantly showed exactly how much talent they lost to the NFL and graduation after last season, I'm not entirely sure the Buckeyes have it in them to make it through Clemson, let alone go and hang another 40-something points on The Tide*.

I have a feeling there is going to be some sort of re-examination of the whole conference champion thing after this season because of the circumstances of the Big 10. I mean, I thought this was one of the reasons why everyone was falling all over themselves to make these 14+ team super conferences with two divisions and a championship game at the end (the other being ranked teams sliding from being "idle"). If Ohio State loses either one of the next two games, we will have to hear how Penn State "could have done better" and "deserved to be there" ad infinitum in spite of being a two loss team. They really have to step up major.

Of course, an 8 team playoff would have negated this and most of the rest of the Big 10 clusterfuck. One extra game. And don't keep pushing into January: play that shit like NOW instead of some of the nonsensical lesser bowl games. I still say making it 16 would be better, as it would also push the "Top 25" concept back into a way more relevant standing. Who gives a shit about who is ranked #19? Makes more sense if they actually had something to keep working for. A team that starts the year ranked #22 could have a chance to up their prominence instead of simply hoping for a chance to be playing in the Car Quest Whogivesashit Bowl.

*assuming Alabama beats Washington. Shouldn't assume this, considering what I said about playoffs year one. Washington is kinda iffy, though. They could pull off a win IF they don't shoot themselves in the foot. They can potentially let mistakes pile up and take themselves out of the game; something that Alabama will surely capitalize on.

Frank Drebin 12-06-2016 02:15 AM

Funny how a multiple game playoff system works. YSU is now going to be playing for another 1-AA (fuck you, it's still one-double-A to me) championship for the first time since Tressel took left town to take a head coaching job for SOME SCHOOL down in Columbus.

Simple Fan 12-22-2016 02:32 PM

Was thinking today with these early bowl games really not meaning anything what if they created a NIT like tournament for college football? Could be for the Group of 5 schools that really have no chance at making it to the College Football Playoff.

Make it 8 teams with the 5 GO5 champions and 3 at large spots. So this year it would look somthing like this because Sunbelt had Co Champions only 2 at large spots available:

1 Western Michigan 13-0 MAC Champion vs 8 Arkansas State 7-5 Sunbelt Co Champion

2 Temple 10-3 AAC Champion vs 7 Appalachian State 9-3 Sunbelt Co Champion

3 Western Kentucky 10-3 CUSA Champion vs 6 Boise State 10-2 MW

4 San Deigo State 10-3 MW Champion vs 5 South Florida 10-2 AAC East runner up

All games are at the higher seeds home field then have the Championship game on New Years Day at a neutral site. Feel like it would give the smaller schools something more to play for and make winning their conference mean more as well.

This year, there was a clear difference between the top 2 and the next 2.

Alabama ate Washington alive, which is to be expected. Just superior talent and superior coaching. And Clemson blackened the Buckeyes.

Curious to see if Watson redeems himself this year. They made it a game last year, but ultimately came up short. Problem is, I don't think this year's team is as good as last year's.

Evil Vito 01-01-2017 01:29 PM

Terrible playoff games.

Evil Vito 01-01-2017 02:54 PM

Kinda torn on Randy Edsall being back at UConn. The way he left the last time was so shitty. Many expected him to leave for Maryland but to leave in the middle of the night without telling his players while they were on the other side of the country after getting beaten down in the Fiesta Bowl was so lame. He did apologize for it a bunch in his presser, but still.

Then again, it's UConn. It's not like hot coaching prospects are knocking at their door. Their record will probably be bad for a few more years but maybe he can find another guy like Jordan Todman to at least make the offense watchable. Diaco's offense was worse than watching paint dry.

What a difference a year makes.

Much like last year, too many Ohio State mistakes.

Unlike last year, they pulled out a win. One they shouldn't have had to fight so damn hard to get. It was a good game in hindsight. A classic. But damn, it needed to be a decisive trouncing at home.

If Barrett can focus like he did in the clutch Saturday ALL OF THE TIME, he is one hell of a Quarterback.

Of course, now, if there are no more losses, there is still The Game. And presumably a B1G Ten Championship showdown with Wisconsin who seem to have the East locked up already.

Frank Drebin 11-14-2017 08:07 PM

Would love to see Northwestern in the Holiday bowl against a pac 12 team like Stanford.

Tom Guycott 11-15-2017 06:53 AM

I still ideally would like to see a 16 team playoff.

You can still have some New Year's tradition in bowl games. Keep doing the Rose Bowl and Fiesta Bowl and Car-Quest bowl and all that shit for the bottom half of the top 25 and honorable mentions, but 1-16 should be in a tourney. That would end any meaningful "argument" about someone being snubbed or jumped or undefeated but still left out in the cold. You'll have all your power teams, conference champs, and room for a Cinderella or two in the form of your Boise States, TCUs, and Northwesterns when they're actually "on" instead of just trying to unilaterally hand the crown to Alabama every year.

It would also put less emphasis on that "when" you lose bullshit, where if you lose early, you can still come back, but if you lose late, fuck you. Most of those would still be in. It would give a two loss team something to possibly still play for (or sometimes even a single loss team) and still make the playoffs instead of just giving up or playing spoiler.

"Oh, but they need to stay in school..." bullshit. The National Champs will have played a grand total of two more games than they do now. Meanwhile, basketball is gearing up, and those fuckers miss school to go play halfway across the state or country every other day between Thanksgiving and March Madness.

"How will the corporate sponsors make money..." have an individual sponsor represent the goddamn playoff games like any other bowl game.

I think 16 is a bit to many but I'd like to see an 8 team playoff and maybe a NIT like playoffs for smaller schools at the beginning of bowl season. Alot of those early bowl games just feel so meaningless.

What? Are you saying bowls like the Zaxby's Heart of Dallas Bowl have no meaning??

I'm good with 4 vs what was 2, but I think 8 is a good number. 8 means legit contenders and you won't have shit like an undefeated big ten team or one loss SEC teams on the bubble like you do now. 16 means Northwestern has a shot though, so 16.

Exactly, Louisville will probably go to the Belk Bowl or Russle Athletics Bowl again. Actually went to the Music City Bowl a couple of years ago when Louisville beat Texas A&M in Jackson's freshman year. Was fun to go watch but didn't seem like A&M were playing for much.

I would hate anything more than 8.

I'm on the fence between 4 and 8...MAYBE 6 where #1 and #2 get a bye. I'd prefer that to 8

If it was 8 tho maybe a team like UCF could actually get in...I wouldn't hate that. If you win ALL your games you should be allowed the chance to play for a national 'ship in my humble

I am iffy about 8. Yes, it is better than four, and worlds better than just "deciding" which two schools deserve it more, but when you get a stacked field of "names", there is too much temptation to weed out the UCFs by jumping another SEC or B1G school ahead of them because "strength of schedule".

16 also eliminates a need for a bye. You're also running under the assumption that 1 will kick the shit out of 16 for round one play. They could bracket better than that if nobody decides to be lazy. The problem O see with a bye for 1 and/or 2 is it has more involved than just how good a team is. A (example) two loss Georgia could get way more love than an undefeated Tulsa, who ends up ranked like 5. Would it be exactly fair that Tulsa doesn't get to rest after having to claw their way up the rankings, run the table, get lucky enough that some of the "right" teams lose, and then not get any rest because they aren't a big money name and didn't start the season with a high rank in the polls grandfathered in?

An extra round would mean more than those same teams playing at the Charmin Half-Ass Random Bowl for an exhibition.
