Chavo Guerrero fired for winning a match
|
Chavo Guerrero returns and wins the Royal Rumble. He goes on to defeat John Cena and Randy Orton at Wrestlemania to become the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Rey and Vicky come out and hug him near the entrance ramp. A giant poster of Eddie Guerrero is revealed followed by fireworks and confetti.

Ouch at the ladder spot during Impact's main event.

It's no secret I have a fan-man-crush on Dean Ambrose. Time to share.
Here's Ambrose responding to what I assume was the six-man tag team loss to Christian & The Usos around Money in the Bank time: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/wqFQLB370pk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Here's some from his FCW rivalry with William Regal: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/ChUDiAMYXgI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/BYjW4ustT3w" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/FLcneAyWCsg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Here's a very Loose Cannon-esque one: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/zNGOY-jeYwI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> I want The Shield to stay together forever, but if they do split, I am very much looking forward to the magic Dean Ambrose will work on the mic. I think he'll be the friction that makes the feud really interesting and kicks it up before the pay-off. |

Since we haven't really seen Christian since The Shield took him out, it would make sense for him to go right back after them -- perhaps specifically Dean Ambrose and his United States Title. That would be a tremendous WrestleMania opener. Yet I don't really want to see it, just because I know that Christian probably wouldn't cut promos and he'd just show "fighting spirit."
Ambrose calling Christian old and deluded, bringing up his failures and how he was never as good as Edge would be great fuel. Ambrose could talk about how The Shield could take him out any time they wanted, but he doesn't even think Christian is worth that. He is letting Christian get into the ring with him healthy so he can use him as a stepping stone and go 2-0 at WrestleMania. Christian can retort with his time in this business and the legends he's shared a ring and locker-room with. He can say that Ambrose is very good and a fantastic champion, but he's arrogant like he used to be and thought the world was coming his way, and he wishes that a young him had a veteran like he is now to slap him in the face and tell him to wake up to himself -- injuries happen and careers can end any night you are in this ring, the time to cement legacies is now. Christian could say that he's never been seen as a "dangerous guy" despite innovating some of the most barbaric matches in WWE history. That's the Christian Dean Ambrose is going to get at WrestleMania. That's the Christian that wants payback for sitting on the shelf for months and questioning whether or not that's it for him. That's the Christian that is going to use all his knowledge over his storied career to hurt Ambrose and wake him up by taking his title. |

WHY DOES BRAY WYATT LIGHT THE LANTERN ONLY TO IMMEDIATELY BLOW IT OUT?!!
Seems like a waste of a fancy long-stick match. |

I'm not sure what the plans for Bray Wyatt come WrestleMania are, but wouldn't it be great if The Rock returned and was cutting a promo in the ring and then everything went glitchy and Bray Wyatt announced that "We're here." The lights come back on and The Rock is laying with Harper and Rowan standing over him.
Bray Wyatt then spends the next few weeks claiming that The Rock is as false as the Hollywood land he inhabits. I get the feeling that The Rock may not be wrestling at the PPV this year, but The Usos could stand up for The Rock, being family and all, and take the fight to Harper and Rowan for the Tag Titles or something. |

Bob Barnett's Hardcore Overload comp
-really interesting interview with Art Barr discussing a possible future run in ECW Him and Eddy would've been amazing in ECW had Art lived. <iframe width="640" height="360" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/hSB2ZLwTt2k?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> 1)Octagon/El Hijo Del Santo –vs- Art Barr/Eddy Guerrero (Clips from the “When Worlds Collide” AAA PPV) Interview: Art Barr (A “shoot” interview from the locker room after Art & Eddy lost their Hair –vs- Mask match at the PPV. This turns out to be Barr’s final video interview as he would die soon afterwards.) Interview: Vampiro (Another shoot, recorded just a few days after Art Barr’s death. Vampiro reflects on his lost friend.) 2)Sabu/Taz –vs- Joe Malenko/Dean Malenko (Clips from the 12/19/94 ECW Arena Show. 911, The Pitbulls & Public Enemy all get involved. Paul E. Dangerously is put through a table by the PE.) 3)Cactus Jack/Kevin Sullivan –vs- The Public Enemy (More footage from 12/19/94. This is a WILD brawl that sees Sullivan turn on Cactus. Sabu & Taz show up and Sabu gets revenge for Paul E. by Legdropping Johnny Grunge through a table. ****) More assorted footage from AAA’s “When Worlds Collide”. Includes: Rey Misterio Jr. in action…Perro Aguyo blading…and Eddy Guerrero jawing with fans. 4)Al Snow –vs- Bobby Bradley (Clips) 5)Chris Benoit –vs- 2 Cold Scorpio (Great 4 star + indie match!) Clip of Doink #11 6)“Dirty White Boy” Tony Anthony –vs- Scotty Flamingo (Clips – SMW – Interesting as this is just before Scotty would take on the Raven gimmick. Here he’s still doing a comedy role. Ref Mark Cutis showcases more offense than DWB, hiptossing Flamingo and dropkicking Jim Cornette. Funny stuff.) 7)Al Snow –vs- Devon Storm (Clips – They brawl up into the bleachers) 8)Tracy Smothers –vs- Chris Candido (SMW - Tammy Fytch is with Chris and looks great. Both guys work hard in front of the small Philly crowd.) 9)The Rock N’ Roll Express –vs- The Gangstas (Clips – SMW) Interview: Fred The Elephant Boy…followed by clips of Fred winning a match (?) and becoming “ECW Bingo Champion” 10)The Bad Breed –vs- The Pitbulls (Clips – ECW) 911 & Paul E. Dangerously destroy ring announcer Bob Artese (ECW) Brief clip of Sandman & Woman (“Woman Oh Woman, would you Marry me THEN!!”) (ECW) Clip of Brian Pillman (who was subbing for Steve Austin) squaring off with Ron Simmons (ECW) Clip of Shane Douglas beating up Sensational Sherri (ECW) |
I MUST watch that.
Art Barr seemed to get the business. I actually don't know the story behind him and Eddie Guerrero, or who was really the brains behind their amazing gimmick in Mexico, but they seemed to just get professional wrestling. On the topic of the Guerreros, I could actually see Chavo returning as Kerwin White. The gimmick was sort of stuck on Heat most of the time, but it was just really starting when Eddie died and they figured it best to abandon it. But Chavo was never the guy they were going to have win the 2006 Royal Rumble anyway. That being said, I'd like it if Vickie Guerrero brought Chavo back and have him some opportunities. The story can be that Chavo left the WWE to get some extra training and come back better than ever. The WWE like having top Hispanic stars, so while they are trying to build Sin Cara, Kalisto and/or Ricardo Rodriguez, or whatever, you can see how Chavo goes as "Hey! That guy's back! Wow, he's gotten really good!" I'm not saying put the World Title on him, or anything, but having him wrestle Alberto Del Rio at two PPVs wouldn't be too much of a stretch. |

One of the big issues with Art was that he also seemed to GET underaged girls. That's one of the things that killed his run as the Juicer in WCW. Well, that and he was the Juicer.

I know there isn't much support for independent wrestling around these parts, but I just found out today that Johnny Gargano has been the Open the Freedom Gate Champion in Dragon Gate USA (booked by Gabe Sapolsky who booked Ring of Honor back when it was everybody's darling) for like two years. I haven't followed the promotion or anything, but I think that's kind of cool. Long title reigns like that aren't really done these days, and it must get tempting as a booker to switch the title to a new fresh face to keep things interesting. I admire what I believe Gabe is trying to do, and that's create a buzz for Gargano and for the eventual title change, while also giving fans of professional wrestling who like long title reigns exactly what they want.

I've heard a little bit of a buzz about New Japan Pro Wrestling lately. Apparently they've been putting on good shows and the like. Anyone else follow them? If I were to try and get into them, what would be the best way to go about it? Here is the card for their upcoming show:
* Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Tomoaki Honma, Captain New Japan & Bushi vs. Tiger Mask Jushin Liger, Manabu Nakanishi, Super Strong Machine * Hirooki Goto vs. Katsuyori Shibata * Kazushi Sakuraba and Yuji Nagata vs. Rolles and Daniel Gracie * Toru Yano and The Great Muta vs. Minoru Suzuki & Shelton Benjamin * King of Destroyers Match: Bad Luck Fale vs. Togi Makabe (match can only end via knockout, TKO or submission) * NWA Title Match: Rob Conway © vs. Satoshi Kojima * IWGP Tag Team Title Match: Davey Boy Smith Jr. & Lance Archer © vs. Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows * IWGP Junior Tag Team Title Match: The Young Bucks © vs. Alex Shelley & KUSHIDA vs. Alex Koslov & Rocky Romero vs. Taichi & TAKA Michinoku * IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title Match: Prince Devitt © vs. Kota Ibushi * IWGP Heavyweight Title Match: Kazuchika Okada © vs. Tetsuya Naito * IWGP Intercontinental Title Match: Shinsuke Nakamura © vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi |
I was thinking a few months back that if the NWA wanted its World Title to mean something again, they should put the title on Matt Morgan and have him go on a tear forever.

I always enjoyed David Hart Smith in the WWE. I think he struggled getting his personality across and seemed to not work well with restraints, but I'm sure he would be tearing it up in Japan. I'd be interested to see his team with Lance Archer. I had heard they were the NWA World Tag Team Champions, but I just read that they lost the titles to Rob Conway & Jax Dane. That means Conway is now the NWA World Heavyweight Champion and an NWA World Tag Team Champion at the same time. Good for him. Luke Gallows is going to get so good working over in Japan. I can see the WWE giving him another crack in a year or two. |
As a youth I always liked the "international" feel of WCW. You had all these seemingly random Mexicans/Spanish/Latino rasslers who would feud with each other, and some Japanese dudes who would feud with each other.... they were never the main focus of the show or anything, but they were always good for "something different".

Well, that and NXT is its own thing, even without the pre-taped "timing" issues. (Such as Seth Rollins being not only a face, but the top face of NXT and still debuting in full WWE as a heel). Big E Langston was a (pretty popular) face anytime he was on NXT as well, but was "the heavy" for Dolph Ziggler and AJ, making him a de facto heel on WWE TV (and also why his "I Need Five" theme makes no sense without the context of his NXT 5 count gimmick). Even after 3MB appeared on NXT, Drew still got cheers. NXT is a strange microcosm. WWE cannon can bleed into it, but NXT cannon generally doesn't bleed into WWE (unless someone at the booth comments that they were "called up"). The only exception to this seems to be The Wyatt Family. They've pretty much remained as they were from NXT completly intact. |
Everyone on this forum is making WrestleMania predictions without the fucking Lesnar factor.
I like it. This could be a really good show this year. |

Although I haven't watched Total Divas in a while, I find Eva Marie to be extremely fake, untalented and bitchy. Is she playing a character or is she just shallow?
|
That segment on Raw where she slapped Lawler leads me to believe that they were really trying to just push it as a stereotypical reality show character.
She is absolutely horrible and untalented though. |
I kept up with Total Divas. It was like a train wreck that I couldn't look away from.
|
Eva Marie definitely seems dumb and shallow, but it was also definitely constructed to be even more so by the show producers/editors.
|
Quote:
The amazing part is the WWE sees a lot more potential value in Jojo than Eva which is why they pulled her from the show in favor of getting her actual Divas development training at NXT. |
Yeah, I noticed that JoJo pretty much became non-existant in the second part of the show.
