Rereleases is kinda cheating but yeah i guess with the recent anniversary run it cracked it. Took it 20 years tho.

Sixx 05-09-2018 12:28 AM

Wait, what?

No, it's been the highest grossing film for years, before it finally got beat by Avatar.

Sixx 05-09-2018 12:29 AM

Oh, ok, just read it cracked 2 billion with the 2012 3D rerelease.

Well, still, it was the first one to crack a billion.

Destor 05-09-2018 12:38 AM

Titanic has be topped a few times they just keep releasing it though.

Sixx 05-09-2018 12:56 AM

Nah, it hasn't been topped at all till Avatar came out.

Destor 05-09-2018 01:04 AM

Titanic on its initial run mad 1.8 billion. 2 films have topped that and soon there will be 3.

Due to that Captian Marvel could resonably dwarf Wondy in a decades time.

I can see her gaining a ton more mainstream popularity similar to what Iron Man's movies have done for him, but I just can't ever see her becoming the cultural icon that Wonder Woman is.

As big as the marvel movies have been, I don't think anyone would argue that Iron Man will become a bigger cultural Icon than Super Man. I feel the same way in regards to Danvers and Wondy.

It would be great to see, don't get me wrong. I would just need to see it to believe it.

Fignuts 05-09-2018 01:07 AM

Would Avatar even be on the list if it wasn't the first modern 3d movie?

Destor 05-09-2018 01:07 AM

More important metric that gets over looked though is inflation making titanic the 4th highest grossing as is even with rerelease and without it it the 7th.

Absolutely wouldnt. Personally saw it in theater just to see how the tech was and thats pretty common consensus.

Destor 05-09-2018 01:09 AM

Also had inflated ticket prices introduced when 3d came back so everything post avatar kinda cheats BUT WHATEVER. Far too difficult to track all that data

I dunno i think youre too old to really appreciate whats happening. I have nieces and nefews between 5 and 13 and superman and company mean nothing to them. Bring up iron man and the hulk though and theyll talk your head off.

Icons change.

Sixx 05-09-2018 01:17 AM

I first saw Avatar in prison and I was reading a book the whole time only taking a glimpse every now and then.

Destor 05-09-2018 01:18 AM

I think the sequel will flop hard

Sixx 05-09-2018 01:30 AM

They're making a sequel?

Ugh. Fuck that.

Blue people from the Eiffer 65's video > Blue people from Avatar

Fignuts 05-09-2018 01:33 AM

I think I read they have 4 sequels planned.

Suppose that's not as bad as Transfomers planning 14.

Destor 05-09-2018 01:37 AM

Cant believe how much the Chinese love transformers. Franchise could legit last for 14 movies on the Chinese market.

Destor 05-09-2018 01:40 AM

Think the last film underperformed a bit tho over there so maybe its slowing down

Tom Guycott 05-09-2018 05:32 AM

Is it actually 14 Transformers movies specifically, or are they still following through with that rumored Johnny-come-lately single cinematic universe build consisting of TF, G.I.Joe, Micronauts, and a couple of other things I forgot right now (I think M.A.S.K. and Visionaries) of 80's toy line properties?

Really, either answer would be crazy in it's own way, by either a) taking a bunch of unrelated properties and stringing them together somehow (yes, TF/Joe has crossed over in the cartoon and in comics, but this is different), or b) trying to make Transformers the next Godzilla or James Bond.

Fignuts 05-09-2018 06:07 AM

I would hope they at least reboot G.I. Joe before doing that. They kind of missed the entire premise completely with those films.

Blonde Moment 05-09-2018 10:41 AM

A ROM movie would be great if done right

Kalyx triaD 05-09-2018 12:28 PM

They are still totally doing a Hasbro Cinematic Universe.

Shadow 05-10-2018 08:34 AM

And Power Rangers will be a part of it due to Hasbro buying them from Saban.

Maybe we'll get some better toys.

Kalyx triaD 05-10-2018 02:41 PM

PR won't be added to it, though they will like take a stab at a new movie. So far Hasbro already made a curious decision for next team. They will do much better than Neo-Saban era. Might even top the Disney era.

Rammsteinmad 05-12-2018 09:58 AM

We'll probably all be dead by the time Avatar 3 is out.

Seanny One Ball 05-12-2018 11:01 AM

James Cameron died after True Lies and was replaced by a reanimated and mind-wiped Jacques Cousteau. It's Faul McCartney all over again.

El Vaquero de Infierno 05-12-2018 12:27 PM

I'm going to see Infinity Wars, again, tomorrow; mostly to get away from my anal retentive landlady, but also because I need my sugar fix.

Only a few days now until Deadpool 2.

Ezra 05-12-2018 01:20 PM

Watched again last night. Not quite as excited on 2nd viewing but still good. Favorite scene is gotg vs iron man, strange and spidey. The interaction is great.

Ruien 05-12-2018 01:25 PM

Ehhh. Shitty day today so going on a date to watch this again. Wasn't super impressed the first time but whatever. The lady has not seen it yet so fuck it.

Ruien 05-12-2018 01:25 PM

Probably going to cry when Loki dies again though. He was by far my favorite character in the Marvel movies.

Ruien 05-13-2018 07:13 PM

SpiderMan was by far the best part of this movie. His line of going by made up names is the best line of the movie by far.

Drax had at least 2 lines that were way better.

Ruien 05-14-2018 05:04 PM

What ones?

RP 05-14-2018 05:05 PM

The " Why is Gamora line "

and the part where he was thinking he was Invisible.

RP 05-14-2018 05:06 PM

"He's not a dude. You're a dude. This is a man. A handsome, muscular man."
"It's like his muscles are made of kryptonite fibers...

RP 05-14-2018 05:07 PM

"How long have you been there?"
"An hour."
"What?"
"I've mastered the ability of standing so incredibly still...that I become invisible to the eye...Watch."
"You're eating a Zagnut."
"My movement...is so slow...that it's imperceptible."
"Mmm, no."
"I'm sure I'm invisible."
"Hi, Drax."
"...Dammit."

RP 05-14-2018 05:08 PM

"I'm gonna ask you this one time, where is Gamora?"
"Yeah, I'll do you one better, who is Gamora?"
"I'll do YOU one better, why is Gamora?"

Damian Rey 2.0 05-14-2018 05:17 PM

Let's agree they were both great

Ruien 05-14-2018 05:53 PM

Those were all good but I will take the Spidey line.

Drax was a beast though.
