That said if the game doesnt relentlessly mock everyone it will fail. A GTA with no teeth isnt GTA. Would be like if south park became PC. Wont work.

Right now the only ones it mocking Is a bunch of cry baby snowflakes who always groan whenever something challenges their puritanical sensibilities. I can’t wait for it to become the biggest selling game in the history of games after it’s released, quickly proving the white wrong. I mean right.

The Crooks team have an objective they have to reach across the map and the Cops team have to stop them and kill them before they get there.

Honestly it was a fun mode and you could easily just call it something else and make it two rival gangs instead of cops and it'd be fine.

why would they soften coo killing? Antipolice sentiment is pretty popular right now and taking down crooked police has been a central theme in every game

Many games have had GTAs gameplay. None have replicated its tone, style and sense of humor. Try as they might. True Crime, Saints Row, Watchdogs hell simpsons road rage.true crime mechanically was better than GTA in every gameplay aspect by a country mile. Didnt matter of course. It lacked the spirit. And thats always been the draw. GTA 3 and vice city very legitimately played like shit. Even for the time. Didnt matter. Biggest games of their time.

GTA has never been about the gameplay. Ever. GTA 4 was a decent cover shooter but the cover shooters of its day were way better. GTA polished its self up pretty good with 5. You atleast werent fighting the game anymore. Plays the smoothest for sure.

I wonder if the popularly of the brand itself has anything to do with it being more popular to than all all those games. Or the fact practically everyone bought a copy when it came out so it was easy to get your friends together for online play. But I’m sure it’s a racism and what have you.

I love all the games i listed there save watchdogs. They arent staples of the medium though. If the gameplay was the draw they would be. Saints row 2, 3 and 4 play way better than gta 3 and vc.

Gta's success isnt exactly a mystery after all. Kids telling other kids about fucking prostitutes and killing them to get their money back did more for the sales of 3 than anything. GTA is a franchise literally built on being edgey, crass and often taboo. Especially with 3 as it hadnt really been a game that went that hard on console ever.

Pushing against neo-puritans is intrinsic to the fiber of its being. Because without its just watchdogs.
