Who still plays WWF No Mercy for N64?

This still is a time to time tradition with me and my friends, but got me thinking if anyone else still regularly plays this game. Was considering trying to start up an online federation for the game if it's still popular enough.

Disturbed316 10-14-2007 02:47 PM

Not regularly, but if I get bored with the games I have on my current console, then I may bust out the 64 for a match or two.

jindrak 10-14-2007 03:02 PM

I'm hoping No Mercy makes it way to online purchase on the wii.

#BROKEN Hasney 10-14-2007 03:04 PM

Loads and loads. but I have no desire to play it online.

ozzman6669 10-14-2007 03:33 PM

I got it on emulator, play once a week, still don't understand what's the big deal with that game.

Xero 10-14-2007 03:49 PM

Well, the fact that you play it once a week 7 years after it was released says something.

But no, I don't.

Mr Regal 10-14-2007 03:51 PM

I loved that game and would probably still play it if i had it.

Mister Sinister 10-14-2007 04:25 PM

I freakin miss playing that game, I miss it like the Dolphins miss an win

Russenmafia 10-14-2007 05:39 PM

I can't get a bug free version of the game for my N64 off ebay. Bought two copies and they both have the bug where it wipes all your created wrestlers and title challenges out.

Xero 10-14-2007 05:51 PM

I'd love for them to release it on the VC but unless THQ is willing to go back and make it current (especially because of the WWF stuff in it) I couldn't see it coming out.

Gerard 10-14-2007 05:54 PM

Its not a bug its a problem with the battery backup. Those batteries are only meant to last 5 years or so anyway so theyre probably just expired.

I play the game now and again, its still amusing to see hand animated moves that are better than some of the shit in the smackdowen series. For example the jacknife powerbomb in smackdown 07..kinda looks like hes almost falling over while delivering it,(also looks fuck all like a jacknife) in no mercy and all those games it looks perfect.

Mr Regal 10-14-2007 05:56 PM

I don't know what gerad is talking about.

but I remember sending my first copy back and getting an unbugged version, was a pretty annoying bug really.

n64 games used battery backup like snes games to save info to the cartridge. Memory cards were also used but a lot of carts came with the battery backup system. What caused no mercy to be faulty was a batch of bad batteries in the cartridge. Over time though they just die off themselves like any other kind of battery.

weather vane 10-14-2007 07:56 PM

Worst glitch ever. Great game though.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-14-2007 07:58 PM

I remember when all my shit got erased for the first time, destoried :(

Alot of versions do that, including the one my friend owns. We just save all our characters a memory card after updating them incase the game resets.

Blitz 10-14-2007 09:05 PM

Play it on emulator every now and again.

Probably play the WCW games more tho. I prefer them.

Well didn't the online programmers morph it into a TNA game. I'm sure if that's possible, it's not too hard for them to get rid of a few WWF graphics.

Yeah, but with game companies it takes man hours. It's not THAT hard, but it costs money for them to modify the game and in the end it may not be worth it for them to edit it.

ct2k 10-15-2007 11:24 AM

I just loved that game engine, I could play on No Mercy, WM2k and Revenge all day

JT 10-15-2007 10:26 PM

After No Mercy, I found it hard going back to the other versions because of limited move lists. When me and my friends play, we go hardcore and take advantage of every move.

Usually we have matches that last around 20-30 minutes, and a few Triple Threats that have gone 45-60 minutes. Also the most offensive move is usually gettings if when he runs at you...will he hit you or grapple you?

Funky Fly 10-16-2007 01:59 AM

I played it for like 2 months straight earlier this year. I love that shit.

road doggy dogg 10-16-2007 02:04 AM

I would love a rehashed version of No Mercy. Exact same engine just with updated shit and tonsssssssssssssssssssss more moves and stuff. I'll prolly just play No Mercy anyway.

That is an incredible claim.

Man I loved that game, the season modewas the best thing about it, as you could lose a match and it wouldn’t matter, you’d just follow a different path, so to see all the possible stories you’d have to lose a few.

I did love that engine, I don’t really like the smackdown vs raw games in comparison, they just seem too much like an arcade game in comparison. Do you think there’s any chance of us ever getting a game like that again? Same engine, just with better graphics would be great

Destor 10-19-2007 03:42 AM

I remember playing this game against my freinds and they would get so mad because they just couldn't beat me. We even went as far as to have a handicap match with the ref in their corner just so they could get a win. 45 minutes later my refferee freind decided there was no hope and counted to my sweet victory.

Destor 10-19-2007 03:42 AM

Good times.

Big Vic 04-17-2018 02:48 PM

I wish I knew back when this game was new of the recall of the bad cartridges.

I never really bothered unlocking everything due to losing all the data every 2 months or so.

El Vaquero de Infierno 04-18-2018 06:55 AM

I always preferred the Wrestlemania game to No Mercy; I was a savage on the former, and WCW Nitro for that matter.

Was your friend playing as Sylvain Grenier? :shifty:

RP 04-18-2018 06:49 PM

I still play WM 2000. I always thought WM 2000 was better than No Way Out. No Mercy. No Mercy felt too laggy.

Ezra 04-18-2018 09:15 PM

If I still had the system I so would. Loved it. Still the best wrestling game of all time.

alvarado52 04-18-2018 10:49 PM

Who the fuck decided to resurrect an 11 year old thread?

Dukelorange 04-19-2018 02:23 PM

I love that game.

EIWF 05-23-2018 06:37 PM

I never had wm2000 or no mercy on n64. Had nwo world tour and the other one, revenge? Which was my favourite. Didnt they have the same game engine?

Destor 05-23-2018 06:45 PM

All 4 did yeah

Dukelorange 05-30-2018 10:57 AM

It had a larger roster and more weapons and you could go backstage.

Savio 05-30-2018 03:24 PM

I would have beaten no mercy if it wasn't for that glitch.

Destor 05-30-2018 03:25 PM

id have beaten your mom if it wasnt for that glitch

Sixx 05-30-2018 05:48 PM

I sometimes use my old N64 to play WM2k or Revenge (tbf I only bought that console to have that game).

Sadly, No Mercy was never realesed in Europe, so I only played it using an emulator and shit's just not the same.

El Vaquero de Infierno 06-02-2018 11:39 AM

No Mercy was released in the UK; it must not have been in the back-waters of the continent.... :p

Tom Guycott 06-03-2018 10:46 PM

This is an interesting No Mercy thread. Ten whole years, and not one Diggity Dog post...?
