Only zelda will sell well though, yes.

The price for non in stock Switches won't move but if you actually want to buy one in March you'll be paying someone who bought it to resell more.

Lol so it will fail just like the Wii did

The grey one has been up and sold through. Not sure what's happening with the Neon.

“Oh, so earlier today I got asked about Mother 3; maybe you can ask me about Metroid. Look, again, I am proud as an executive with Nintendo to say that we look at all of the boards and all of the comments and we really have a good understanding of what our consumers want. And believe me, we take that to heart as we work to create content. So I have nothing to announce–here. But we are aware that there are some key IP that consumers just can’t wait for the next true installment in that franchise’s legacy. Suffice it to say, we’re aware of it, and talk to me in a year and let’s look back and see what’s happened.”

drave 01-14-2017 07:34 AM

If they do make a Metroid and it looks as good as Zelda.... I may get one down the line. Right now though, I'll skip the launch.

Maluco 01-14-2017 08:20 AM

I don't think they have done enough at launch. Initial list looks poor and has made me decide against a pre-order. It feels like they are playing catch-up and rushing things.

Not enough on the table at launch for me, couple that with crazy prices on things like pro-controller have made me hesitant. Zelda wouldn't be enough for me anyway, even discounting the fact I already have a Wii U (which means Mario Kart doesn't interest me either)

Remains to be seen whether Arms and Switch 1 2 are going to be gimmicks are will be worth what you will be paying for them.

Hnnnng. Looks amazing in portable mode even.

The Rogerer 01-14-2017 01:50 PM

Boondoggle of a console. The price is clearly higher than people are expecting, they're selling two consoles. The Switch could have been this lightweight console, and everyone was happy with the initial pitch, but then they went out of their way to add shit to the joycons that most users won't see. If you don't pay $50 for 12Switch, you're not using the HD rumble, the gyro, the fucking IR hand sensor that nothing will ever use.

Rather than being a cheap piece of plastic with some wires, a dock is $90. What the fuck is in it. You can buy a tablet for less than half that. You get the Switch box and it's got 7 objects I. There, not counting wires.

Maybe they could have done a bog standard Switch and then released upgraded joycons down the line. It's modular and everything!

Shadow 01-14-2017 04:02 PM

Gonna put the breaks on this for myself just to see where they go with it. Still gonna get it but probably wait till summer.

Zelda will be mine though.

Kalyx triaD 01-15-2017 12:25 AM

Can't play Zelda and Mario Kart 8d on a tablet.

You can't play Zelda and Mario Kart 8d on a Switch dock either.

I'm led to believe that all the processing is self contained in the Switch. Maybe there's a TV scaler built into the Switch dock, but those are very cheap. Otherwise it's a couple of USB sockets and an HDMI port and a lump of plastic for $90. Why does the Dock cost more than a 2DS? Or even a set if joycons? At least they're loaded to the gills with different tech.

Maybe they'll do a special portable dock for $150

#BROKEN Hasney 01-15-2017 05:20 AM

Probably because the dock won't well well so they'll just make whatever profit they can. It's just a replacement item.

Like you said, there's not much in of so I'm sure 3rd parties will fill the gap too.

Nintendo should have just closed the switch off to only their games and just said "fuck it we know you aren't buying this for ports of x box 360 games from 4 years ago"

But Bomberman... :(

Droford 01-15-2017 09:05 AM

No ones gonna pay 60 bucks for Bomberman R in a world where there's thousands of puzzle type games to be had for free including a bunch of Bomberman knockoffs

Droford 01-15-2017 09:21 AM

Zelda takes up 13gb of the less than 32 gb storage.

They should include a microsd card

#BROKEN Hasney 01-15-2017 10:57 AM

Or just buy it on cart for cheaper...

Its not like the gamepad (that was also quoted around $100 for a replacement?), its not a replacement, they showed off an owner of two docks on the original trailer. You could have one in the living room, the bedroom, your divorced dad's house. Its not like they should dissuade people from buying them.

Edit: yeah, replacement Wii u gamepad was $108.

SlickyTrickyDamon 01-15-2017 11:20 AM

Grand Theft Mario might be worth getting a system over. That's the kind of game that proved with the WiiU was nothing by not having one like it on the system.

SlickyTrickyDamon 01-15-2017 11:23 AM

I don't think I've ever gotten a system at launch. Don't like the idea of being an unpaid tester.

The Rogerer 01-15-2017 11:25 AM

Bomberman is £59.99 at GAME? The jig is up, Nintendo is going right for the 30 somethings.

SlickyTrickyDamon 01-15-2017 11:29 AM

Unless it's something amazing Bomberman should be a free add on dlc.

I've got every Nintendo system at launch since the Gamecube. They make shit well as none have even broken.

:lol, one of the most addictive multiplayer games should be free. Yeah, so should the WWE Network then.

£20 would be ace for a new Bomberman. But they've not set the price on that being £60. That's our old pals at Konami.

The Rogerer 01-15-2017 12:08 PM

Everything is way more than it should be. I don't really begrudge game prices any more, but it feels like VR where they know they're selling to a captive wealthy audience and so everyone is here to fill their boots on people looking to fill another set of black ikea shelves in the game room.

#BROKEN Hasney 01-15-2017 12:22 PM

I think it'll come down just before or slightly after launch. Knack was 55 quid prior to the PS4 launch and Dual Shock 4's still RRP at 50.

Ruien 01-15-2017 12:29 PM

Bomberman is amazing. What the hell is everyone talking about in this thread? Once I buy the system I will buy Bomberman.

#BROKEN Hasney 01-15-2017 01:50 PM

It's no wonder this console is so expensive, there's haptic feedback in the touchscreen too. But whats the point in that?

Kalyx triaD 01-15-2017 02:09 PM

Yeah me and my buds were heavy into Bomberman Live just four years ago. Just a perfect concept.

Did anything in the Treehouse use the touchscreen at all?

Nope. Not a thing.

The Rogerer 01-15-2017 04:54 PM

At least the Dual shock 4 is no longer the biggest collection of unused oddities in gaming.

#BROKEN Hasney 01-15-2017 04:58 PM

I mean, I imagine it will be used when the inevitable Mario Maker happens, but I don't need haptic feedback for that.

The Rogerer 01-15-2017 05:09 PM

It be a little more awkward without a stylus. At some point it's probably neglible to have a touchscreen in there, but adding the haptic feedback, again, tech that many owners will never use if they don't buy the right few games. The Switch takes so many risks in this regard.

Kalyx triaD 01-15-2017 05:41 PM

$300 is not expensive.

The Rogerer 01-15-2017 06:53 PM

Not really, but I bet a lot of people disagree. I honestly want to know why the fuck the dock is $90. I could see people wanting another set of joycons, a pro controller, another dock - fairly reasonable setup, and you've landed on $600.

http://www.polygon.com/2017/1/13/142...switch-dock-do

https://cdn0.vox-cdn.com/thumbor/MDl...k_back_960.png

People in that thread are doing the 'replacement part' thing, but that's nonsense. Having a dock in one place, a dock in another, and having the system be portable between the two would be, like, a completely normal part of the concept of the Switch.

So if a dock is worth $90 and the joycons are worth $80 and the joycon dock is worth $30 then that's $200 dollars for a controller and a piece of plastic. The actual Nintendo Switch is then hypothetically a further $100 dollars - about the same as the piece of plastic it sits in.

Ruien 01-15-2017 07:39 PM

$300.00 is not a lot but all the add-ons seem insane. There will be some third party that will sell the controllers aND such a lot cheaper though.

Agreed

Shadow 01-16-2017 04:53 PM

Hence why I've changed from a Day 1 buy to a Day Summer buy. Still getting it, just gonna wait for the game list to fill up.

#BROKEN Hasney 01-16-2017 04:56 PM

Yeah, the only add on I'm getting at launch is a case. It's all I need though.
