Not bad.
|
Dont see what this adds to the origional
|
The original is still horrifying but this does look intense.
|
I'm surprised by how much I liked this trailer. I actually want to see it and I expected to hate it or for it to look like "generic jump scares". Nope. Looks pretty f'n creepy.
|
Oh hey it seems this is gonna be better then the original TV miniseries because it doesn't have the adult timeline squashed into it. Awesome.
Wonder if they'll do That scene. |
I thought they planned a sequal where they're adults.

okay that looks actually terrifying.
|
This looks like it'll the same story as the TV Shining remake of Stanley Kubrick's movie; a longer retelling with closer accuracy to the book.
Example - The Girl of the group looks like they're going for a tomboyish appearance: in the novel she's described as "able to beat up any of the boys in the neighborhood, with her cigarettes rolled up in the sleeve of her shirt." In the 90's miniseries she's as girly & feminine as you can get, wearing dresses & bursting into tears if anybody looks at her funny. Will be interesting to see how everything's "corrected" in the remake/s |

LOVE the banter here. And to release a clip of this length of mostly that; confidence. I am excited. |
I dont think the clown looks as creepy. The new one looks evil for sure, but the original seemed psychotic creepy like and had a real creepy smile.

Even AHS has a better "evil clown". https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com...e0322cfa11.gif |
^ I mark for Twisty...in hindsight Freak Show was a way better season than I initially gave it credit for. Twisty & Dandy were both really cool characters and the season had a cool 'look' to it.
|
Twisty was the only good part of that season. I watched the next couple of episodes without him and couldn't even finish the season. Never picked up the show after. Every season got worse and worse after a fairly strong first.
|
The trailers make it look pretty creepy/scary and good. Look forward to it. Only trailers though. We are obsessed over the clown because it is the most memorable/creepy part of IT but there's alot more. I think it looks good but that one manifestation of IT is so small in the greater scope of the story that as long as the clown isn't TERRIBLE and doesn't distract from the tone it's fine.
We'll see when it's time for reviews. |
Alamo Drafthouse has announced it will be doing a "clowns only" screening......

Yeah, doesn't hold up super great.
Pumped to see this on Thursday. |

Hot damn.

And Skarsgard. God damn. Comparing Curry and skarsgard is like comparing Nicholson and ledger. Apples and Oranges at the end of the day. That said, I think I prefer Skarsgard's It. Curry is great but he seems more like just a murderous clown. Skarsgard comes off more as a thing pretending to be a clown. |
Also, someone snuck in a red balloon, and let it fly up during one of the really tense scenes and freaked everyone the fuck out.
|
Skarsgard was amazing in this show i was watching on Netflix. I cant remember the name I think it was Hemlock Grove or something.. but the show was wild and he was great in it. He's probably one of the most underrated great actors out there right now. I hope his career takes off after this. I'm going to see IT tomorrow.

SPOILER: show |
Overall I thought it was really good. Fell into some traps that the mini-series fell into as well and while its possible that maybe there's material in the books that explains things a little, I was taken out of the movie a couple of times to wonder about things.
LOL @ all the people who went "Dat's the clown?!?" when the first pics came out and started bashing this movie for no reason. Skarsgaard was great and the clown was fantastic. Apples to oranges with Tim Curry's version, absolutely, but I liked this one more. I loved that it didn't rely on shitty jump scares. Sure there are some and thats fine, but it takes a much better film to scare you or creep you out without resorting to them all the time. Loved the dark humor that wasn't trying to imitate the humor Marvel puts into their movies. The Moment with the (mild) SPOILER: show Highly recommend it if you're the slightest bit interested in this one. |

Can't stop thinking "Chris Jericho's IT (2017)"
http://www.wwe.com/videos/chris-jeri...-march-26-2001 |
seeing in a few hours, really looking forward to IT
|
I thought it was alright, but not great. The kids were good and they were well defined characters but I found the horror stuff very flat. The scares didn't feel very inventive and it incorporated a lot of techniques that are overly common in modern horror movies. The scary scenes felt more intense than truly frightening and the film would have benefited from more subtlety (this goes for some of the non Pennywise stuff as well). 6/10

It was stuff like the parents. The overly protective mom and (the child raping? I dunno) dad were pretty bad characters who probably didn't need to be in the movie. Geogie's dad is just like "fuck it, he's dead" with no care about what happened to him. Movies where all the adults are idiots and only the kids "get it" is a head slapper for me. |
