Totally. Like, you should be able to make Mario Maker levels on Pro pad. Sure, that would be the worst way to do it, but the lack of options on the Wii U sometimes was infuriating, especially if something broke.

Nintendo not ruling out VR support for the Switch according to president Tatsumi Kimishima although wouldn't happen any time soon since they feel VR tech at the moment doesn't fit with the type of games they like or would make.

Being speculated/rumored Nintendo gave Nvidia a lot of control over the development of the Switch in regards to manufacturing and designs unlike how past consoles were handled.
Nvidia themselves revealed they have been working on the Switch for around two years and teased at having similar roles for future Nintendo consoles at least for the next two decades. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1312746 |

That would be an awesome price point. |
So we're all getting one.
|
Fuck it at that price I'll buy two
|
Nintendo is pricing this in such a way that it'll get in as many homes as possible.
Ironbite-awesome. |
Price-wise, would be about the same to the Wii U's launch in the US based on those estimates but the big advantage of extra controllers being a lot cheaper to buy. Same for Switch games being cheaper by around $10 if those game price estimates stay the same here.
|
A rare case of a console reveal where everything so far sounds great.
|
Well if it's that price range I might get one after all.
In response to whoever said the charge plug is blocked when the kickstand is in use I have an idea for that. They should split it into 2 kickstands spaced further out to the sides. Removes charge port obstruction and adds stability at same time. |

So from what the new things people are saying, everything is still sounding good so hope these new ones are true too:
Splatoon packed in in deluxe model at launch 3D Mario Switch at launch Skyrim at launch MK8 within 3 months of launch and will feature tons of exclusive content including brand new tracks, new playable characters, and a new-and-improved battle mode. That’s right, Nintendo listened to everyone’s criticisms about Mario Kart 8’s battle mode. Zelda several months after launch Smash 4 at some point not at launch |

Hot damn at an updated MK8 and Smash can't even get any better so I wanna see that.
I'm also gonna assume Splatoon will drop the gamepad bullshit. I really need that to go. |
If they hold off on getting this out there when people want to buy it I think Nintendo is going to be fucked. They are already doing it with the new NES plug and play. Want to make it seem like it's a Tickle Me Elmo when it's just that they didn't make enough for launch.
They also did it with the WiiU which is one of the biggest reasons I think it has failed. |
Quote:
Last console that they did before the NES Classic that sold out was the Wii and we all know how that did. It's not really Nintendos fault. They don't want to stuff the supply chain with stock that won't sell like the 3DS and Wii U as they then have to give retailers financial incentives to take more stock like games and accessesories. Conversely, if it's understocked, they can't just flick a switch and get more stock quickly, you usually need months of planning to get a slot in one of thesde factories. However, the latter is probably the better net situation for Nintendo. |

New 1080 Snowboarding too, please

Eurogamer currently rumored to be revealing some new Switch details tomorrow.

So Eurogamers thing is Pokemon Stars. This isn't a spin off, but you know how some Pokemons get a third version like Yellow or Platinum? It's that, except it's not coming out on 3DS and will exclusively be on the Switch instead.

Same source as the other rumors that are coming out, Nintendo are internally aiming for a June 16 2017 UK Breath of the Wild Switch release. Aiming Wii U for June 23 2017 UK.
Also, there will be a Xenoblade Chronicles X port. |
So in Ubis 30th anniversary video, Mario, Luigi and Toad were shown as Rabbids.

Another game was recently announced for the Switch although came at the cost of the Wii U losing a game. The creator of Stardew Valley announced a Switch port is currently in development but had to drop the Wii U version as a trade off.
http://www.gamespot.com/articles/sta.../1100-6445817/ Both EA and Take Two recently reconfirmed they have plans to support the Switch with games although EA implied at possibly pulling an Ubisoft by withholding a game or possibly games till the console hits a certain number for userbase. Quote:

According to recent reports, From Software is currently rumored to be working on a Dark Souls III port for the Switch but are also acting like EA and Ubisoft in regards to not likely going to release it unless the console sells a certain amount. Both EA and Ubisoft recently hinted at holding back games in development until the Switch reaches a certain userbase for sales.

With all this third party support irs getting, this has the potential to be the best Nintendo console since the SNES.
If the Virtual Console is morw comprehensive, and doesn't have the glacial release pacing of the WiiU, then it's going to be all the sweeter. |

Man I wouldn't put too much stock in that demo for the Switch on Fallon but god damn does Zelda look pretty.

Color me intrigued on the Switch, but I want to see everything else around the Switch (online functionality, the OS, the ease of switching controllers and control styles) before I'm in on buying one. I'm hopeful the January Nintendo direct will start showing more of that stuff.
The few games they've shown off look nice, for sure. |

I've seen a lot of outcry over the GPU power already, but that's 50% more graphical power than the Wii U with significantly faster CPU and RAM speeds. Shame we can't get the full version of X1 working in dock mode, but considering it runs the same software in portable mode, I doubt anyone could make full use of it anyway. |
Anyone thinking that the Switch was gonna blow the Xbone/Ps4 out of the water graphically is just deluding themselves. Besides, we're rapidly hitting a graphical plateau anyways and it soon won't make a difference.
|
So we're looking at longer load times and less slick visuals in portable mode?

Feel like Nintendo can do anything they want with a console and it will still sell because of their game licenses like Zelda and Mario. They could literally make the "Nintendo Ass" which would be an ass shaped helmet that you put on your head and the monitor inside delivers a "VR gaming experience" to play Zelda : The Life of Link, but it is literally a plastic ass that you put your head into to play.
Would still sell because Nintendo game licenses. |
The last Nintendo console that seemed "cool" was the N64
|
I'm almost willing to bet it's Nintendo's last hardware device. They're finally going to realize they can't cut the mustard anymore with hardware and will just sell games.
The major selling point/reason for the switch is the portability factor and its basically crippled for portable use. Makes absolutely ZERO sense. Plus I doubt many people are dying to lug around what amounts to a small tablet just so they can play Nintendo games. |
Oh hey, it's the Nintendos Last Hardware rhetoric from the late 90's again!
Fun fact: Even the Wii U was profitable for them. Some games lost money, sure, but as a whole they came out on top again. |
Current rumor regarding the Switch's Virtual Console teases at Eternal Darkness being among the games planned for it based on recent trademark filings by Nintendo. Also being speculated Nintendo might be planning on doing more with the IP than just a re-release based on some of the wording in the new trademark.

It's a game they made for mobile phones, which I hear is also a big market these days.
It doesn't mean they are abandoning consoles. |
The Wii U flops and all of a sudden Nintendo goes from "we'll never release games on mobile devices " to "we won't port existing games to mobile devices but we might create new games for them"
Hmm |

I used to say I would never type 'lol' but now I do. Peoples opinions on things changes. You wave money in front of them and they will change faster.
|
And there is more money to be made selling games to the bazillion people with IPhones than there is the relatively small number of people (13 million for the Wii U) buying their consoles. Its just a fact.
|
According to recent FCC filings, the battery for the Switch is similar to PS4 controllers in sense of not being easily replaceable. Also teasing the device won't support 3G nor LTE for Bluetooth capabilities.
Quote:

Not that I'm getting one, but the battery choice seems dumb.

So when the battery dies the million dollar question is can you still play it in the dock. Would be hilarious if not.

Which is irrelevant if the battery goes bad
My first cell phone I had got to the point the battery would die in 30 minutes if it wasn't plugged in. Advances in battery tech aside if you get a bad battery and its not replaceable it usually means the thing is junk. One of the reasons why I only buy cell phones with replaceable batteries. A $30 controller having a dead battery =/= a $300 console paperweight with a dead battery. |
What if the CPU dies in any console? These hypotheticals are DELIGHTFUL!
Battery is always user replaceable, no matter what the company tries to do. |
So is it a good decision to buy a Wii U? I want to play Zelda games plus the "party games"(so far out of the loop on everything video games). Or should I just wait for the Switch?
|
If your really interested in a decent amount of games and can find one reasonably cheap, then sure. Nintendo has refurbished ones for around $200-$215 with 1-2 games if you don't care about having a used one.
Could also just wait till after the Switch event in a couple of weeks to get an idea of the games the Switch is going to have for launch and shortly afterwards. Maybe it will have similar type of party games you might be interested in. |
I have fun with the wii u when I play it. The controller itself is bloody brilliant imo. Plus like you said Zelda and Mario and party games and kart racers. Also some decent niche jrpgs on there like xenoblade chronicles x. You can also watch YouTube and what not on the control which is sweet. The short range sucks though but then again the switch is trying to correct that.
