Easily my fav band. Freddie is the single greatest lead singer of all time. Not interested in this movie though.

Sixx 05-15-2018 11:17 AM

Fuck this movie. Always thought Remi Malek looks retarded, ever since I saw him in some sitcom.

Also, Queen is OBJECTIVELY the best band in the history. No bad songs. Sure, I'm a "fan" of a bit different kind of music most of the time, but I love Queen with all my heart. Freddie Mercury is the winner of my Honorary Aryan Totally Not Gay award.

Oh, and a huge fuck you to Roger Taylor and Brian May for adopting Adam Lambert and continuing to use the name "Queen". PLay if you want, but don't tarnish the legacy, cunts.

Ezra 11-01-2018 11:59 PM

Fucking loved it.

I am a huge Queen fan. Freddie is a personal inspiration of mine and have felt very strongly connected to him from middle school on up.

Obviously in any movie they are going to take liberties here and there and I am fine with that. A few things stuck out I didn't see a real purpose in but I will get to that in a bit. Overall, they did a good job with this and I will be interested to see if this film has an effect on a new generation on Queen fans like Wayne's World did way back when.

Now for the pros and cons

Cons
1. Probably my biggest gripe is song placement. I get they were trying to get the big hits thrown in there but acting like Fat Bottomed Girls was done in Sheer Heart Attack/Night At The Opera era was honestly pointless. Plenty of great songs to choose from that era they could have used.

2. Definitely an artistic liberty but Jim Hutton was introduced way to late into this. He was dating Freddie long before he had AIDS. In this they didn't become "friends" until after he found out. I fear the people complaining early on they weren't just shoving Freddie's sexuality down everyone's throat will be back for seconds.

2. Unless I missed something, which is possible, they seemed to try their hardest to showcase something from every album Queen put out while Freddie was alive whether it was a reference in the dialogue, background or music itself. The only notable exception is there was nothing from the Miracle album that I seen or heard. For reference...

Queen - Keep Yourself Alive, Doin' Alright (although done as Smile)
Queen II - Seven Seas Of Rhye (bo rhap vid bringing cover to life)
Sheer Heart Attack - Killer Queen, Now I'm Here
Night At The Opera - Bo Rhap, Love of my Life, I'm In Love With My Car (good stuff here), Good Company (reference by Deacon), Seaside Rendezvous, You're My Best Friend
A Day At The Races - Somebody to Love
News Of The World - We Will Rock You, We Are The Champions
Jazz - Don't Stop Me Now, Fat Bottomed Girls, Bicycle Race (visual reference)
Flash Soundtrack - Reference to Flash and color scheme at one point
The Game - Another One Bites The Dust, Crazy Little Thing Called Love
Hot Space - Under Pressure, hot space conference with artwork in the back
The Works - Hammer To Fall, Radio Ga Ga
A King Of Magic - Who Wants To Live Forever
The Miracle - Saw and heard nothing
Innuendo - Show Must Go On (end credits)

3. Seemed to portray they immediately toured and took over America. That wasn't even close as to what happened.

4. Movie Pass didn't work with this. Fucking dicks.

5. Should have been an 8 hour movie and a national holiday.

Pros
1. I am glad they included how Freddie's mic stand came about. Most people probably think nothing of it but it gave Freddie an iconic look that would be part of him and his image forever.

2. Loved the constant hazing of Roger Taylor over women and what the hell I'm In Love With My Car was really about.

3. Tidbit about giving Brian May hell about his hair was great as well.

4. Wrapping it around live aid was a good choice. I don't think Freddie told the band about having AIDS until 87 but I could be wrong on that aspect.

5. In my opinion Freddie's sexuality was played out just fine. The dipshits who were bitching about this from the get go need to go get fucked. Personally enjoyed Freddie and Mary's break up where she said the hardest thing about it all was that it wasn't his fault. Tremendous piece of acting wrapped tight with some great dialogue.

6. Edit - also loved the brain may version of the opening studio theme credits

I was honestly choked up at the end. I think one tear even managed to get by. Probably going to be dragging everyone that will let me to this.

You just gotta know how to use it. I saw it with MP

Edit - as long as you don't have to verify your ticket stubs you just need one movie to check into through the app and then you can buy whatever movie ticket you want. I saw "Indivisible" tonight for instance. Unfortunately MP isn't doing any movies for the next week my theatre is showing so this trick won't work but anyway..it is technically "against the rules" but MP has no way of knowing what movie you actually see if you don't have stub verification and I honestly don't care. I'm done at the end of the month with them anyway.

Ezra 11-02-2018 12:52 AM

My theater literally had no options at all for tonight for whatever reason.

Droford 11-02-2018 12:56 AM

They have dramatically cut back on the movies they're allowing with just about no wide releases. Check the app for the next week's list of movies...it's ridiculously bad

ClockShot 11-02-2018 05:25 AM

I wanna see this, I really do.

With all the holdups and cast changes, I'd figure the producers, director, everybody involved wanted to do this movie/story justice.

But, with the reviews I'm reading, it's probably not worth my time. Think I'll just pay $1 at a Redbox when it goes to DVD.

Ezra 11-02-2018 12:30 PM

If you like Queen it's worth it. May even be worth it just for the Waynes World reference.

Mike Myers was on Colbert and spoiled that.

It's kinda crazy I didn't realize that was him

I want to see this. Queen had songs that I loved so much. Yet, I dont know much about the band because they are kinda before my time. Just before my time. But i grew up with Waynes World which introduced me to Queen. And then Might Ducks came out and they had We Are The Champions at the end of the movie which got me stoked. One of the more influential bands in the 90's as far as movie soundtracks.

RP 11-02-2018 05:57 PM

I love Rami Melk. I think he's amazing.

Mr. Robot is one of the best shows on television and I cant believe USA canceled it. If I were Netflix, I would pick that up right now.

USA didn't cancel it.

Sam Esmail decided to wrap it up.

Just got back from the theatre and loved it, great film. The wife even loved it and she doesn't really care for the music.

Rammsteinmad 11-04-2018 01:18 PM

First cinema date me and my girlfriend went on despite being together for a year and a half. Absolutely loved it.
