I really need something NEW to the formula. Last year's pacing felt much better and made some matches play out like "actual" matches.

Still though, same shit different year. Would like to see "real time" roster updates when possible, even if it is DLC.

Never picked up 16, the first WWE console game I didn't get. There will need to make big changes to not make that two years in a row.

I've liked a lot of the changes they've made in recent games, but they take too many steps back in other areas at the same time.

I'll give it a chance and redbox it for a day or two, since there are likely going to be a lot of awesome new additions to the roster, but it's definitely not a day one buy. Especially if firepro is actually going to happen, which I'm guessing we'll know by the time this is out.

Needs more Kurt Angle

Pretty much was already done in 2K14. There was a "Defend the Streak" mode and a "Defeat the Streak" mode...tough as fuck to get 50 defenses for the achievement/trophy, though...ckosest I got was like 45 or so in Defend mode...brutal.

Yeah, for sure...defense mode was a ton easier. In trying to defeat him, I'd find myself running away from him outside the ring, taunting a few times to build a signature, hoping to nail it and then a finisher on him in the ring, lather, rinse, repeat as much as possible, all while trying not to get caught or reversed into taking too much damage.

I remember when I first beat him as King Kong Bundy...lot of failures before I finally did it, but it was a real sense of accomplishment when I did.

So it was basically Dark Souls.

Looking forward to the port of 14, 15 and 16. I'm sure the half dozen or so new characters, BRAND NEW physics and ALL NEW arenas will differentiate it and make it worth $65.

There should be very little guesswork in the roster this year. They'll likely port over everybody from last year who is still on good terms with the company and then add in Sasha, Charlotte, Becky, AJ Styles, The Dudley Boyz, and Alberto Del Rio.

The only question marks then are NXT additions and maybe Gallows/Anderson. Bayley, Apollo Crews, and American Alpha feel like sensible adds to the in-game roster. Aries and Nakamura will end up as DLC because people will definitely go out of their way to pay for them.

Of course if the gameplay isn't better than the roster means dick all anyways. Last year was only the second time in the entire SmackDown series that I didn't eventually cave and buy the game.

2K16 wasn't bad. The pacing feels good and you can't counter into infinity. STILL have close matches when I play. If you can catch it on sale, it would be worth $20 or so.

MyCareer mode took a seriously bad turn.

I got 2k16 as a gift and I still feel ripped off.

I wonder if Umaga will be a playable character this year.

Not really. There's been plenty of games in the series with more than 1 guy on the cover...almost every single one up to WWE '12. Only the original SvR has one person on the front, Mr. McMahon. The rest all have at least one foreground guy and several in the background.

Trying to be like other "legit sports" video games with the one athlete covers....

I'll say they go with Brock. Was thinking Rock, but he was in 2014, right? With Cena last year, assuning they want to go with someone else, seems like the only other guy with "crossover" appeal.

Be nice if they actually gave the pc version the ability to use mp3 files from the hd for entrance themes. We had that back on that turd raw on the original xbox yet somehow they've not managed to put it into 2k15 or 2k16.

Also...id like to see character models that can actually stand straight and not walk about bow legged semi crouching like they they've been for years now. Even on entrances the legs are still bent at the knee for some reason.

Also fuck that 2k16 submission system, go back to the old button mashing system.

Engine would probably get a legit massive rehaul and not have stuff going as far back as the PS1 era.

Supposedly 2K Games wanted to take at least a year off when they got the license for that reason but the WWE refused to allow it to happen. Same for wanting to move it out of the holiday window one year for better sales and more dev time which the WWE also refused.

If I remember correctly, the WWE didn't want to lose out on the $20-$40 million in guaranteed money the license brings in each year regardless of sales.

The WWE 2k17 CE is an NXT edition and honestly, the extras sound awesome... Except for one line that fucks over people not wanting the extras: Nakamura, Apollo Crews and Nia Jax are all only in the CE at launch.

I knew Nakamura was going to be somebody they set aside as a bonus or DLC. I'd guess those three will end up being a part of a cheaper standalone DLC pack after the game is out for a few months.

Used to be, but it got moved up along with the official game reveals (as in gameplay, not the cover art) to SummerSlam weekend.

The 3 characters are available at launch for 360/PS3 though, so you won't have to buy the collectors edition to play as Nakamura. Not sure if they're unlocked at the start or DLC though.

I laugh at people who still refer to PS4 and XBox One as "next gen". They've been out for nearly 3 fucking years now.
