-Alex coming in March.
-One new character per month until September.
-Spectator mode after the launch
-Challenges on March.
-Characters will cost 100.000 Fight Money or 600 Zenny

One new character a month means I don't have to wait long for Ibuki.

Is the deluxe edition/season pass required to play as the additional characters?

No, you can grind out the required fight money by playing the game, or just pay cash for each character individually.

The Rogerer 02-09-2016 01:34 PM

Cheers, I'd forgotten about the fight money stuff.

I ordered those stick covers

Emperor Smeat 02-09-2016 05:30 PM

Day One patch for the game revealed to be around 5.9 GB in size along with Capcom confirming support for PS3 fightsticks for the game.

Going to get one of the new mad catz fight pads for this. I think the setup will help my execution, plus they look slick as fuck.

#BROKEN Hasney 02-11-2016 02:32 PM

Capcom have said that finishing most of the single player content will give you enough fight money for Alex for free.

Bought my Hori fight pad for Mortal Kombat. But never took it out yet.

Wish I could use my Blanka pad.

The Rogerer 02-12-2016 08:42 AM

I was playing through some UltraSF4 arcade mode to pass the time this morning. They've totally patched Seth on normal difficulty since original SF4, haven't they? I remember him being pretty tough and constantly throwing a whole arsenal at you. Now he just stands there while you push him around for a 2-0.

Fignuts 02-12-2016 08:45 AM

He's a far cry from Gil, that's for damn sure.

drave 02-12-2016 08:45 AM

Seth was indeed tough. Obviously haven't played this one but was never a push over.

Fignuts 02-15-2016 02:23 PM

So early reports are the new mad catz fight pads are garbage.....again. D-pad is really bad and prone to sticking and flat out breaking.

How the fuck can a company that makes duch amazing arcade sticks make such god awful controllers? I mean you'd think they'd at least be decent.

Anyway, glad I held off on getting one. Will probably save up for a stick now.

Just buy the king

Fignuts 02-15-2016 07:54 PM

The king is not found

The Rogerer 02-15-2016 07:54 PM

Just use a pad. Look at Luffy

Fignuts 02-15-2016 07:58 PM

Anyone wanna play some ultra while the clock ticks down?

Fignuts 02-16-2016 12:22 AM

Download faster, damn you!

Fignuts 02-16-2016 12:34 AM

Servers down already lol

So much for all tjat beta testing. Also, amazon hasn't sent me the code for my Bison costume yet? Do you only get the costumes if you preorder the physical copy?

The Rogerer 02-16-2016 03:29 AM

I seemed to have the Chun Li dress just in the game anyway.

I didn't play much of the beta. They've slowed things down a bit, and really shaken up Chun Li's move set. Simplified it down tbh, she has a lot of accumulated cruft in 4.

Fignuts 02-16-2016 03:52 AM

Chun Li gained a great anti air normal. That alone makes me very happy.

Dammit, this one:

The Rogerer 02-16-2016 05:06 AM

Since I got those stick covers, I've been using the analog sticks off and on. It's not bad. I got enough practice in before as I had original SF4 on a 360. Fuck that d-pad.

I want to be good at Street Fighter.

Kalyx triaD 02-16-2016 10:11 AM

You can all be good at Street Fighter. Now more than ever.

The Rogerer 02-16-2016 10:44 AM

It's been a long road.

TBH I thought Street Fighter II was cool and I got it on the SNES but I was dense and had no-one to fight against. I would play a lot of Alpha 2 and 3 but same story. Then I really enjoyed SF4 but just felt intimidated playing online. I've been playing a bunch of IV online to warm up for V, and I was generally getting thrashed, but I was coming through the first stages of improving: not getting frustrated, and taking in what people are doing to me. If someone comes up with a simple but confident offence I would just crumple up and dash myself against it. I fought one guy twice in a row who utterly squashed me first time, and then on the second time I noticed he was just totally relying on me charging in.

It's one of those shameful things that I've been a big fan since 2 but never measurably improved. I just haven't put the time in.

V, to my amateur eyes, seems heavier, slower and more generous. They seem to have simplified the execution as well. I'm much more likely to commit to things nowadays when I start them, and so this is what I want to improve at.

Fignuts 02-16-2016 11:25 AM

Linking is easier, yes. I dunno about it being slower. Most people would say it's faster than IV. It is certainly much more offensive minded than 4.

The Rogerer 02-16-2016 12:04 PM

I suppose I mean heavier, weightier? Probably talking out of my arse.

Fignuts 02-16-2016 12:46 PM

Well I'm not getting kicked from the server anymore, but I can't find a single fight in ranked or casual. Battle Lounge is really effedup as it won't let you search or create one.

Pretty shit, tbh.

ClockShot 02-16-2016 01:13 PM

I don't think most of the features are available yet, right?

Currently just screwing around in training and seeing who I'll be comfortable with. I know I'll see everybody using Ryu right now online.

thecc 02-16-2016 01:33 PM

I didn't have any success finding matches at first. It has seemed to get slightly better though. Also rethinking about using Laura as my main.

The Rogerer 02-16-2016 02:26 PM

The first day is always the worst. This is unfortunately a problem with servers that can't be helped

Fignuts 02-16-2016 03:45 PM

Problem is theres not much else to do besides online. Can't do story mode if you can't log in, and you don't get money or xp from survival offline.

All you can really do is train.

The Rogerer 02-16-2016 04:16 PM

I got on at the midnight launch, but I guess that's before the US was involved? Haven't been able to get on whatsoever today

Is the Chun Li anti air her back and fierce kick?

Fignuts 02-16-2016 05:23 PM

Yeah. Works pretty good.

#BROKEN Hasney 02-16-2016 05:43 PM

275k fight money. Unless you want costumes, there's no reason to get the season pass. They level up so damn quick that the 1k bonuses just come pouring in.

Emperor Smeat 02-16-2016 05:56 PM

Breakdown on how coins are earned in the game from Destructoid. It's actually possible to earn enough coins to get two characters for free but involves ignoring everything else costing coins.

Also the amount of free coins possible seems to have a soft cap set until Capcom releases more ways to earn coins.

Quote:

Fight Coins are basically an earned, free currency, that you get from completing various events. Playing a "story" (read: less than 10 minute prologues) will net you 10,000 each clear, and a win online nets you 50. With one survival clear per character (there's 16 characters and four difficulty tiers for each one) you can net 6,000 coins each. You can also opt to buy into a premium currency called "Zenny," which will run you $1 per 100. Characters (here's the current schedule) cost 100,000 Fight Coins or 600 Zenny, story mode costumes cost 40,000 Fight Coins, and premium costumes are 400 Zenny.

On paper, you're getting one and a half characters outright (160,000 coins from just the prologues) for a few hours of work. That's...not bad, since said characters would be sold as paid DLC anyway. But Capcom is counting on you spending your currency on outfits, leaving you with less and less cash to buy characters with. It's a common strategy that's used in a lot of games -- hell, the free market in general. If you can resist the temptation, you'll likely come out on top.

Assuming the well of solo coins dries up, beyond that, you'll need to win roughly 2000 games a month to get a free character. But there are concessions. Leveling up a character by playing them will net you an extra 1000 coins per level, for example. When the shop opens in March, more prices emerge, and other modes arrive, we'll update accordingly. For now, the high rewards for single-player content are great, but we'll see how easy it is to earn Coins once players cap their levels out. "More ways to earn coins will be added throughout the year" Capcom says, but for now, this is just a promise.

#BROKEN Hasney 02-16-2016 05:59 PM

Destructoid article is bullshit. When you actually play the game, you see how fast the levels go up so ignoring that bonus is silly. Mix up your character selection and you'll have the years worth of character DLC in fight money plus change for costumes.

#BROKEN Hasney 02-16-2016 06:05 PM

Someone did the mathsmaths and there is ~640,000FM available in the base game by just completing story mode, easy survival and normal survival with every character, starting at level 1 each. Rough figures because the 3 fight stories come out at level 5 and the 4 fight ones hit 8, but it should be around that.

The Rogerer 02-16-2016 07:14 PM

I've been online for a couple of hours while I did all of story mode/survival. I only got one online match in the entire time (Stomped by R Mika) in that time. The levelling up of characters seemed a little spotty, maybe I wasn't getting notifications.

A word of warning, I was playing survival mode and suspended the PS4, when I started up again it kicks you straight out because it lost the connection. Something to bear in mind if you're going for hell mode? Hopefully they patch it.

I'm fairly relaxed about it as I look at it as an ongoing service, but the AI in this game is fucking pointless. Even in Hell Survival it seems the same brain dead nothing, unless it increases as you go up levels? I suppose this is the bare minimum they had to do to get the game out. Hopefully the servers are going well soon.
